Quick Updates plugin [support]

Hi mafiasam and craftzombie,

I certainly agree this would be a very usefull addon to the quick_updates mod, and I already have been thinking about adding such a fuctionality. Currently, on my own cart, I have added a separate admin page which allows me add new products by copying a "template product" (in one click). It is always copied to a special "import category" I have setup, and I move it to the right category (and update the other info) using quick_updates.

If I find some time, hopefully the coming week, I will certainly move this functionality to the quick_updates mod and make it copy this template product to the selected category. Then adding new products would only take two clicks, one to select the category and one to actually add it (and more if you need to edit the new product of course).

Re: Quick Updates plugin [support]

This is such a great mod. Have you ever considered doing the same thing for Attributes? The ability to quickly add and update attributes would be great.

One other thing have you had a chance to look at the pop up display for IE.

Thanks again for the great work.

That sounds great. I have so many products to add in the next few weeks that I wish I had it now but I'm always adding products so I can wait.
Once you get it done I'll buy you a cup of joe. Or I could even buy you one now. Let me know where I can contribute Paulm.

Thanks for the great support on this.

Once you get it done I'll buy you a cup of joe.Don't know what "a cup joe" is (English is not my native language). But I assume it's something good ;-) Maybe better buy one for Andrew (a_berezin) first, he did a lot of good work on this contribution! It was very messy before he updated it.

I have made some important (but bearly any visible) changes to the mod today. Anyone willing to test it? Only usefull if feedback is going to be returned of course.

cup of joe = cup of coffee

I'm a homeschooler and I just taught my son about idioms. Check these out: http://www.idiomsite.com/ :smile:

(cup of joe: According to the June 2004 issue of Sea magazine (volume 96, no. 6, page
22): When Josephus Daniels became secretary of the Navy in 1913, he
prohibited alcohol aboard all U.S. Navy vessels - making coffee the
strongest drink that could be served on board. For that reason, sailors
started referring to a mug of strong coffee as "a cup of Joe". - idiomsite.com)

I would be glad to test on my site. I can test with both IE and Firefox browsers.

Thanks,

what did you just call me?!

lol. j/k.

I'm actually still using the previous version of this mod and the 1.3.5 version of zencart. So I could test for 1.3.5 and then upgrade and test for 1.3.6.

Just let me know. Andrew is going to get a "cup of joe" this week. ha ha.

thanks again

How about adding the ability to only show products which are activated at the momentThat happens to be on my own list too. Difficult to say when I will get to it. A lot depends on how fast modifications to another (external) script go, which I use in conjuction with quick_updates. It may take a day, or it may take much longer.... ;-)

For now you can edit this line (in admin/quick_upates.php):

  $where = array();

And add a line, so that it becomes:

  $where = array();
  $where[] = "p.products_status = '" . 1 . "'";

Later I will include it as a switch.

Look for (in admin/quick_updates):

// added for products_purchase_price and margin

It shows how/where I added two extra columns, adding other colums can be done in a similar way.

Re: Quick Updates plugin [support]

Almost finished adding a quick products copier BTW :-) (but often the last parts are the hardest ;-) )

ghgarcia:

This is such a great mod. Have you ever considered doing the same thing for Attributes?Yes, but really only considered, I think a quick attributes editor should be a separate module. maybe a future version of the quick updates copier feature will offer the ability to copy attributes from an existing product to a new product.

Re: Quick Updates plugin [support]

And also this time it appears to be true. By itself the copier works, but while testing I noticed strange behaviour concerning the categories. I am quite sure the categories edit feature of this mod does not work like it should. It lets you change "the category", but in reality each product can be linked to several categories (and has one master_categories_id, which quick_updates does not let you edit currently).

So the categories edit feature should show the user al linked categories_id's for each products_id, and (separately) show the master_categories_id for it. It also should let the user select a range of categories_id's to assign to each product one of which must be the master_categories_id (and/or let the user select a master_categories_id from the selected categories_id's for that product).

Anyone still reading? :P

To make a long story short this probably will delay the release of my quick copier addon, since I think this problem should be fixed first. Or maybe the categories edit feature should be disabled until it's fixed....

Another idea would be to drop the quick_updating of categories, and replace it by links to the Zen Cart "Multiple Categories Link Manager".

I am also looking for a way to add wholesale prices to quick updates (my favorite mod!!!). I tried doing it myself but my knowledge is very limited on this sort of thing. Having Quick Updates be able to update wholesale prices would save my life. Any help would be rewarded with my eternal love and an expensive dinner if you ever came to Texas. :smile:

For now i am still working on the formentioned categories bug though, I really need to have this fixed (for my own usage).

So when using the current (or older) version: please be carefull with editting multi linked products! (linked to multiple categories) And better do not use it to edit the categories. I think I have solved this problem today/night, but I need to clean up, add some texts and do some more testing before I can upload it).

my eternal love meanes nothing to you? i guess it's true... the way to a mans heart is through his stomach!

Well...get workin'! Come on! We need you! (j.k. - your work is GREATLY appreciated by the masses here)

One more thing though (as if you didn't have enough on your plate already) is that I can't get the page to move to the next page when using the drop-down menu on the bottom. A previous closed thread mentioned turning register globals on, which they are, so any thoughts?

Okay, I figured out how to edit the wholesale prices in phpMyAdmin to hold me over until this is a part of Quick Updates. It's not as fast as Quick Updates would handle it, but faster then editing each product separately.

This is my first time touching the database like this. Scary and exhilarating all at once! I deserve a slice of pie now! :cool:
