Easy embed template

they easiest way to get back to the home page is to put a link to it in the template say to the /index.html.
as for brian21's post different strokes you know. the reason I don't have one static page that you edit is because I have written the Sanguine Easy Embed for more then just zen cart. I have mods for Phorum, Drupal, and Gallery 2. it works so that I can control all of the templates w/ one document. other wise it would be easy to just say edit the template.php file.
happy hacking,

Thats what I thought, link back to the index page I just wanted to make sure the cart would close cleanly and all files would be correct. I will turn this over to her as she is better versed than myself as you can judge. I would like to ask one more question I followed the instructions about removing the zen cart logo completely but a red x appears where the image should be is there a way to eliminate this.

Thank you for your patience and help

Re: Easy embed template

you know I have been meaning to post this for a while but wanted to add more before I did it.
here you go. it is a newer version of the easy embed template w/out a place for the banner and more neutral css. also be careful as I added language files that I am always having to copy anyways.

this should help you out chas1. Please ask your wife to review my read me file. and post her thoughts.

if you follow the readme instructions and download the incudes folder into the zen cart folder you end up with two includes folders, one with the new sang_embed and another that has under it templates and languages and the admin cannot find the sang_embed folder. I follow the instructios as written to preclude problems on my part.

Re: Easy embed template

that confuses me. you mean to tell me that your computer will allow two folders of the same in a directory? or do you now have a directory structure that looks like, yourZenCartFolder/includes/includes folder? I meant for it tell you so that you just have one includes folder. want to offer better wording?
(in open source, even the read me files are up for community improvement)

After copying the includes from the sang_embed folder on this machine you end up with a path C:\htdocs\store\includes\includes\templates\sang_embed now if you follow the path from the first includes: includes\templates\template_default. the folder store is the name of the 1.37 installation. if you delete the orginal includes folder all the folders below it are deleted aren,t they? Hope this helps.

I have thru the admin changed the template to sang_embed and the folder
sang_embed is a sub folder of the includes/templates/template_default/sang_embed and it contains all the folders in your zip file in the correct location.

In the html file
where I want the cart to start I have the following:

   <body>
       <div = "contents">
          <-- start embed --->
          <-- end embed -->
        </div>
    some more html content
  </body>
 </html>

the problem is still the correct placement of the html file can it be inside the common folder or should it be elsewhere.

your html comments are done wrong. the should be proper comments. Also the comments are case sensitive.
```html
<!-- START EMBED -->
<!-- END EMBED -->
You can put the html. file any where you want as long as you can point to it in the embed_config.php
I didn't mean to mislead you, I cut and pasted the html code from the installation guide exactly . I was just giving an example.
This is what I have:
    <html>
 <head>
   sytle sheet and java
 </head>
 <body>
 <div id=”content”>
  <!-- START EMBED -->
  <!-- END EMBED -->
 </div>
   footer
 </body>
 </html>
I am going to place the html file in the common folder and  I can do this, is this correct.
The template file in the common folder I can use:  DIR_FS_CATALOG.DIR_WS_TEMPLATES."sang_embed/common/GFlowers.htm”
is this correct? Is this part inclosed by quotes ?"sang_embed/common/GFlowers.htm”
Now if I run the html page in a browser when it reaches the <--- START EMBED ---> the cart should be read in, is this correct and when the cart is read in it will function the same as a normal zen cart with theme that I style with the css and do I need to use a info page to leave the cart and return to the home page?
I have this working part way, my cart is "mystore" on a local machine running in xampp with apache2 and I have the files set up correctly (I think!!) but when I run localhosts/mystore the html file is loaded and then the cart loads on top of it, how do I have the html page load and then the cart should load underneath the header I thought. Lets say you have a 5 page html website and you want the cart to load on the third page (name of third page would be cart.htm) the <div> would be on this page also and I would guess that the config file would have to point to this page, if so how does the site function. I thought the purpose of this embed was to enable someone to place a zen cart or wrap the zen cart within the website and the cart would show up where you wanted it to while at the same time you keep the look and feel of your website theme and then you would change the css file in the cart to match your theme as close as possible, am I wrong? Maybe I am confused about the way this works but from the post it seems to imply this. Sorry for the bother but I would like to see this work. do you have a reference live site with zen 1.37 so I could see it.
thank you
Re: Easy embed template
At this point I dont know what to say. you are right this is a mod that is able to put the cart any where you want it w/o compromising the look or feel of you web site. How ever because you are running the thing locally I have not bee able see your final product, I have only been able to guess what you are doing. the only thing that O would point out and also apologize for is maybe my documentation is a bit crap, because you have make you HTML comments wrong every time I have showed you. please review
http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_comment.asp and look At the START/END comments.
This is not an easy plugin for people who dont understand PHP at all, its not meant to be. but once set up it will make life hella easier for people who are the desingers.
Please realize that this was developed for a proper team set up of a good code monkey, and a good designer, who does not want to deal w/ PHP. So that thye can update the whole site w/ the dreamweaver template system. Templates we being run from all different directories at the time.
getting a bit frustrated here. But the fact that you can see the mark up is progress. me means that you have got you path right,
This is what I cut and pasted from the installation guide for sang_embed 1.1
<body> <div id=”content”> <!-- START EMBED --> <!-- END EMBED --> </div>
footer
</body>
This is installation for sang _ embed:
INSTALL and SET UP
this template make it easy to embed zen-cart in to almost any site.
just make a template w/ you fave html editor be it Dreamweaver or vim, and place
<!-- START EMBED --> where you want to have the zen cart start to over write code in you template
and
place <!-- END EMBED --> where you want it to stop the cart and put your code
in the embed_config.php located in the common folder
do a search/ replace for YOUR_TEMPLATE/ the direct location of your template from the php root of your machine.
It should work form there.
JOsh
This is from sang_embed 1.1 install sheet
<html> <head> </head> <body> <div id=”content”> <!-- START EMBED --> <!-- END EMBED --> </div> </body> </html> I am sorry that I have frustrated you and you are right this is meant for software people who work with this sort of thing and is above my head. So I will leave it at that and for go this like a lot of things in this cart and most open source is it is meant for developer's who have the time to sort out these problems that why the forum is full of people asking for help and can't resolve their problem because most of the helper's can' t explain things in a simple, easy manner. I am glad I don't have that problem with my designs that I do for people who are not engineer's as I would be out of business. I will give you a lot of credit for trying and I am truly sorry for wasting your time. I just did it a simple way I created a link to the cart from her site and I put a return link in the cart a little hokey but it works.
Thank You
Re: Easy embed template
I've tried reading through this, and I'm not sure exactly I understand where I'm supposed to install it to make this work.
I have a layout that's pending approval from my client (the temporary url is http://silent-asylum.net/gprf ) and it's a tables layout that is broken up with SSI. Assuming I'm a moron, can anyone tell me where to put the zencart installation (will it still embed if it's in a folder?) and give me moron-friendly step-by-steps? I really appreciate it. :D
Re: Easy embed template
You can put the zen cart folder any there you want to, if you want to have additional pages, beyond the zen cart pages but dont want to have another index.php you could even install the zen cart in you web root folder.
What I do and most people do though is install it in a folder called 'catalog', 'shop' or 'cart'.
as for installing the sang_embed template. I would hugest that you make you self familiar w/ the over rides system that zen cart uses first. you can find a write up on that here.
Once that you have read and understand that, you can download the sang embed template zip file from here. and follow the read me instructions, and ask any questions that you have regarding it in this thread.
Don't hold your breath, I don't think anyone outside of Brian21 can do that including the author of the easy embed, doing is one thing making it simple for others to understand and showing examples of it working so we can follow the bouncing ball seems to be one of the discouraging parts of this forum. In MHO Zen cart developer's should require any downloads be proven with a demo site like Dr. Byte's and example code that works for the version of the cart that is intended for, along with the person's who will supply the support and indicate if it's free or cost money. You can spend weeks searching this forum only to find the guy has disappeared or no longer supports his upgrade.
