Password protect category

Is it possible to password protect a category? For example I want a category to be called wholesale.....where only approved people with the password can see the prices and order from that products page? The dual pricing and wholesale feature looks like alot of code work for a non coder.

I need this too, already I have to make a file with pricelist and by linking to that page that was nested in a .htaccess directory, for so customers, but your idea if applicable is more effective and nice.

any help or points are welcome.

Why don't you just make a complete wholesale site, and have customers require approval before they can shop, this way you can just approve the people you want, and they can not shop with out approval.
