Product Listing via "Collections"

Hi,

Is it possible to list products based on 'collections'?

For example, take a collection named "Hibiscus Collectoin". When a customer chooses this collection in the product listing page, the product information page for this collection will contain pictures of from the collection. When the customer chooses which object they want from the collection, they simply have to choose "Shirt" or "Pants".

Shirt and Pants have different prices though, and I want a way in which I don't have to set a base price.

Is this possible?

Thanks.

From you description I can tell that you have an image of what your are trying to describe, but I am not visualizing this image at all.

How is what you want different from categories and sub-categories?

Re: Product Listing via "Collections"

LOL Kobra. Sorry about my confusing description.

Lets see...

I want to sell some products via collections, or designs, such as this: http://www.diva-dog.com/calligraphy.html

Pertaining the above example, a customer has 3 options to choose from in the collection: The Calligraphy Leash, the Calligraphy Collar, or just the Calligraphy set. The customer just simply chooses which product they want from the collection: the Leash or the Collar, or both.

I want to set a certain price for the collar and leash alone, so they can be sold separately. But, if the customer chooses to purchase the "Leash & Collar" option at the same time, the price will be discounted.

I also want the different options to be set up like that, so that in the future, when a customer wants to come back to purchase the last product to complete the set, they will be able to do so. (I don't exactly want those price buttons though).

I hope that made a bit more sense. I can't really explain it well.

Look at this site and see if this is what you are thinking about.

Not really 'collections' but you can place the correct products in any category.

Re: Product Listing via "Collections"

Kobra, I'm looking at this page

It is what I somewhat have in mind. I know I can do something like this in the Attributes controller, but when I do it through there, the options will have a (+ $~.~~) added to the base price.

I would love it like the website though; where the customer chooses which size they want, and immediately know the price of it. As opposed to "Prices start at 7$" and each option has a "+ $7.00" or " "+ $10.00" added to the base price.

Re: Product Listing via "Collections"

If this is what you are seeking, set it up, first and be sure that it is what you want, as if it is the display item are all adjustable either in the admin or through code tweaks. Not necessary to invest your time into tweaking untill your are sure that this is what you want.

So set it up with a couple of 'collections' to see how it will function, get it to function as you want and then work on the layout.

The 'starting at' is a switch in the admin > catalog > product types > then at the right there is a edit latout button - select this and find the start price item and set to false.

The others are in the way you apply attributes, so set some up and then post with the attribute settings and assistance will be at hand
