removing sales message goes here?

It's at the very top, how do you remove it? I can't find it anywhere.

Re: removing sales message goes here?

You might wish to read the FAQs or the Wiki or just do a search on the forum for: sales message

Also, if you peek in the Admin at the Tools ... Developer's Tool Kit ... you can use the bottom input box to locate any text, constant or variable that is in a php file ... just pick where to search from the dropdown and click search ...

If you need to search for a configuration_key that you found in a file, use the top box and do not select anything from the dropdown and just click Search ...

Re: removing sales message goes here?

The file that you need to edit is in htdocs/includes/languages/english/classic

Download and edit the file header.php with your favorite text editor and unload the new header.php to that directory. You can make a backup of this original file first in your PC before editing the file just in case something goes wrong.

Re: removing sales message goes here?

I would...if I knew how. I've just had zen cart for 3 days. I'm having download problems. My test download links are not showing up. I set it up as a freebie and when the dummy account I made in my shop is at the my account section, the download button is there. The problem is when I hit that button, I get a no download page error message or something like that. I've put the correct option name, value and attributes to it so that a radio button shows up, the file is in the /download directory and I still get this error. I'm stumped at the moment. Any ideas what I did wrong?:(

Re: removing sales message goes here?

What version of Zen Cart are you running?

Is this a windows or unix server?

In the Attributes Contoller do you see the green dot next to the filename?

Is the download a Zip?

Does it contain any spaces or special characters?

What size is the download?

Is /pub set to 777

Re: removing sales message goes here?

Ajeh:

What version of Zen Cart are you running?--> I'm using the current version of Zen Cart which is 1.3.0.2 and PHP version 4.4.2

Is this a windows or unix server?--> Not sure. This is the location of my webhost that has all the details on their plan. http://www.powweb.com/powweb/hosting.bml

In the Attributes Contoller do you see the green dot next to the filename?--> Yes, there is a green dot.

Is the download a Zip?--> Yes, it is already in zip file format.

Does it contain any spaces or special characters?-->No, it does not have any spaces or special characters in the filename of the zip file. I just typed it all in small letters without any spaces.

What size is the download?-->145 KB to 3 MB download size.

Is /pub set to 777-->Yes, the /pub is already set to 777.

I'm crossing my fingers that someone could figure out what went wrong.

Re: removing sales message goes here?

Can you download a small zip properly?

Is it just large ones that fail or both?

What happens if in the Configuration ... Attribute Settings ... you turn the Redirect to OFF?

If this suddenly makes it work, then your hosting site is not allowing for the symbolic links to work that make the Downloads more secure ...

If that is the case, ask them why this .htacces file cannot work on your server that is located in the /pub directory

#prevent directory browsing -- for security

I can't download any file .... large or small. I got the same results with a file that should be sold. I gave my dummy account a coupon with the same amount of the selling price so I can get the download button to appear after I switch the status to delivered. I'm gonna try that Redirect on / off method. I'll ask my webhost about that question you mentioned above. Thanks for guiding me to the right directions specially about those templates! I've done a lot of reading about that topic here in the forums and the wiki docs. It sure makes it easier to back up the files when the time comes to upgrade Zen Cart.

Re: removing sales message goes here?

Start at the top of this thread and try a search on what you are trying to find, example: Sales message

Excuse me if this is an obvious question but I want to be sure....

Does zen cart do automatic upgrades without my knowledge? And if so does it auto wipe any changes I have made to the classic template?

And if so is there any way to stop this?

Re: removing sales message goes here?

No, Zen Cart does not do automatic upgrades. The admin has a setting (on by default) to automatically check for upgrades, but you have to download and install them yourself.

If you run an upgrade, changes to the classic template will automatically be wiped out. The way to preserve your changes would be to copy all /classic/ folders with their files to /your_template/ folders in parallel with the classic ones. Then follow the template instructions in the FAQ, including editing the template_info.php and turning the template on in admin. Now your changes are safe.

Re: removing sales message goes here?

I'm having similar problems. I'm fairly savvy and I'm having one hell of a time building a working template. I really like the default classic green, I just want to change the text and some coloring.

I've spent hours trying to copy out the original items to a new template but when I try to turn on my revised template, I lose sideboxes and the whole layout pukes. There's got to be an easier way. What am I missing?

I'm at a loss. Can't somebody provide a simple step-by-step on how to just tweak the original template. And please God don't tell me to look at the FAQ again. It's incomplete. I've followed every step to the letter and it's not working. I think some of the ubergeeks who wrote that FAQ are assuming us newbies know every step. Do us a favor, go SLOW, I'm not used to all this directory navigation.

Help! Anyone! I'm drowning in wasted time.

Thanks.

Re: removing sales message goes here?

You lose sideboxes...

Have you gone to Tools > Layout Boxes Controller and reset the sideboxes? That is a necessary step when turning on a new template.

P.S. - The Classic template has only a few files that you need to copy to make a fully functioning duplicate. How many files were you trying to put in your new template folders?
