New UK postal charges

Very shortly, Royal Mail are going to start charging both by weight and dimensions. Anyone got any suggestions as to how to cater for this when selling a variety of products of differing weights and sizes?

Re: New UK postal charges

The Canada Post module currently offers dimensional support. You could use it as a basis for building a new module...

As a result of our earlier exchange of posts, it's on my to do list to track down this module, translate it and then see how applicable it is to the UK situation and what tailoring would be needed.

So far, I have got as far as ... putting it on my to do list. If you were to grab the module and do a rough translation (I can go back to the original if I need more precision), that would greatly improve the chances of me finding the time to finish this off and, as Ryk says, make you rather popular.

You and me both sir, I havent had the chance to look into it yet properly but I know both the sagawa and yamato modules have this in and I have already translated it all.
Theres not a great deal of text in there to translate really.

Re: New UK postal charges

OK. Pulled my finger out and reviewed the Japanese modules. They're very similar, with Yamato seeming to have been derived from Sagawa. I now know much, much more about the Japanese shipping systems - my goodness they make it complicated. So a UK equivalent would be a simplification. BUT, if I understand this correctly, there is an underlying assumption in these modules that every item will be shipped separately. Have I understood that correctly?

Re: New UK postal charges

Full marks to the man above.
Yes yamato is derived from sagawa and both dont work btw :yuck: but you can see the principles. Its either for dimensions, or weight from memory and also takes into account distance.
Why did you think it assumes only 1 item?
Im curious.
