Rich Email and Outlook

We send a lot of html mail out for a client, and during testing, we noticed that styles in the head section of the html were becoming skewed by Outlook. (It happens in Eudora as well, but not as badly) The issue in Outlook stems from the fact that MS Word displays rich content for Outlook. Word adds style tags at the block element level, negating styles in the head.

I would suggest that everyone, and the Zen team for future releases, apply all html email styles to the elements themselves. This will add control and consistency to the emails.

Cheers!

Thanks,
George

Re: Rich Email and Outlook

Thanks George.

I've been contemplating that ... the issue is in testing for maximum compatibility with the extremely diverse range of support for CSS methods amongst the plethora of email clients.

If someone were to make these kinds of changes to their own site, test it for a few months, and keep a detailed log of successes/failures with as many email clients as possible, it would make decision-making easier.
