Re: Can I Install on a subdomain ?

I do it for clients all the time for demo purposes, have never had an issue - just the same as any other install.

Re: Can I Install on a subdomain ?

While I, personally, do not have subdomain install issues with my hosting guru ...

I do know that some hosting sites just do not work right with subdomains and you are better off working on a subdirectory install ...

Either it goes real smooth ... and you know you can do this without a problem ...

Or, it goes all bad ... and you may wish to try the subdirectory instead ...

Good news ... one or the other does work ...

Re: Can I Install on a subdomain ?

If you have problems with a normal subdomain then you may also have the option of setting up a User (email address) with their own subdomain. So if you set up a User called' shop' and elect to give it a subdomain, then it's available at http://shop.yourdomain.com but the files are in a folder called 'shop' at http://www.yourdomain.com/shop

Re: Can I Install on a subdomain ?

Hi all. I tried installing ZenCart on my webhost (it's on a subdomain) for demo purposes but after installing all the files, I get nothing on the site. I double checked everything and all the files are there, it's judt that nothing is showing up. I tried accessing the /admin page and it suggest running the installer (which is expectd coz I havent installed it yet), but when I run the installer, nothing happens, not even a single image appears.

Here's the url if you want to take a look:

Somebody help plss....

Re: Can I Install on a subdomain ?

Interesting - I get a black page with a fall-ish looking frame in the middle and some very hard to read text on this page.

I don't think that zen is playing too well with that subdomain and then a folder - it definitely isn't calling the right index file.

Sorry. I have no idea how to fix this. I haven't ever had a problem on subdomains.

Hi, the was fast, hehehe...

The fall-ish thing you saw was something like a default page if the url or content is missing or not working well.

Anyone else got an idea? It's my first install you know..

Btw, nice site you got...

No. It's part of the default Zen Cart. You can see it in action if you install Zen Cart fresh with the demo products. Those are "document" product-type products.

What did you have to do? I'm having the same issue. I can access my cart through the subdomain but as soon as I click anything else it goes back to the "domain.com/webstore" format.

You need to put your entire subdomain-prefixed URL in the HTTP_SERVER setting, and then update the DIR_WS_CATALOG values to remove the foldername of your subdomain ... ie: instead of '/webstore/' it would be just '/' since the subdomain/folder issue is handled by the correct HTTP_SERVER value.

If you have more troubles with it, you may need to talk to your hosting company to determine what else might be wrong ... since Zen Cart only uses those 2 settings (and the HTTPS versions of them) to control its link generation.

Re: Can I Install on a subdomain ?

I want to try to install zencart in a sub-domain . In configure.php will as assume that the sub-domain is the domain e.i the info http_server,http_catalog_server will be my sub-domain name. My dir_fs_catalog will be /home/xxx/public_html/sub-domain.

In a word will a consider my sub-domain as a domain in all my configure.php

Thanks for your answer.
