Sporadic - Add to Cart Button doesn't Add

Add to Cart button works fine normally, however every once in a while the products will not add. Can't reproduce no matter what i try, just occurs sporadically. Been happening for the last couple of months. Please help.

Any idea of what you might be doing or where you might be doing it when you get the sporadic no add for unknown reasons? :smile:

Basically, sometimes when I add products to my cart, the products do not add. This doesn't happen every time, maybe once every 10 times i go to add products. When it occurs, usually when i go back to add the product again it works fine. Other times when this occurs, i can try adding a product 5 times before it actually adds. It seems as though their is no pattern to why this is occuring, I have had two develpers look into this, neither could duplicate the problem, but something within my cart is causing this error.

What version of Zen Cart?

Where are you when you do the Add? Any particular page, listing, etc. that might help gleam a clue?

Good question, however its not confined to a specific page, it happens on all listing pages.

1. There is no specific area it occurs on my site, meaning if it happened with one product, going back to that same product the problem will not occur again, so duplicating is difficult. I would say that spending 15 or 20 minutes trying to add products on https://www.bluedogink.com you will probably see it happen.

I am fairly confident that this problem was occuring before the upgrade, we upgraded about a month ago, but this problem has probably been occuring or that i noticed for the last 6 months or so.

Note: the current version of Zen Cart is Zen Cart v1.3.0.2 ...

I showed this comment to my webmaster, he origianlly thought the SEFU was an interesting possibility, but after reviewing this, he has concluded that this is not a possible reason for the problem. He has mentioned the possibility of the Zen ID being lost in the transfer of pages, he is looking into that, and also a few other possibilities.

The problem with this error is that it is difficult to reproduce, therefore hard to pinpoint.

Have you guys ever dealt with a problem like this before?

1. Does this only happen from a product-listing page?
2. Which position on the page is it? ie: first, last, 4th, etc?
3. Do you have the "add selected items to cart" buttons enabled, or did you turn those off and use individual buy-now buttons instead?
4. Is it happening from the product-info page too?
5. How many attributes are assigned to the product?
6. Is it just one product, or is it randomly happening to multiple products?
7. Can you upload the techsupp.php file from the original zc_install folder to your "extras" folder and supply a link to it? It could be related to PHP settings...

Interesting points, i passed this on to my webmaster, he is looking into a few of your questions, currently we think the problem is on the listing page and possibly the buy button is causing problems. I feel that this has occured on the product-info page as well, but we haven't been able to reproduce as of yet on that page.

Personally, I'd take the Doc and Linda against your web guy. And they can turn their computers off and do it from memory!
