Zen Cart unfortunatly isn't a bit and piece program,
Your best bet, I know you said you didnt want to do this, is to build your design into zen cart.

Re: Just want to use cart and need help!

I'm guessing that the quantity left is pulled using a PHP script, which script is it that its using to pull this information. Also, what code is needed to emulate an add to cart button on another page. This would be how you could intigrate the cart into your website without having to change anything. If anyone could answer my two questions, that would be great.

Re: Just want to use cart and need help!

It isn't A Script it is a GROUP OF scripts that run together to make zen work. As was stated above zen isn't meant to be something that you drop into a website. It is something that you incorporate your design into.

Re: Just want to use cart and need help!

Zen-Cart already contains countless information inside the core. Meaning, it has been created in order to be incorporated from other scripts rather than the opoosite direction (as most e-commerce companys would recommend). Since the core can be handled one way, then the solution is to only work from output into input connections.

Short answer NO!!

You don't have to build a new 'website' you just have to make zencart look like the one that you designed. As much as you do not want to hear this, and you do not understand what has been stated in the posts, just understand that you can not select just the parts that you want. Zen Cart functions as a complete application ONLY.

Your alternative, write your own code to handle the purchase from anywhere that you want it to.

Considering my suggestion above, as all the others on this topic, is the way to go - period.

Re: Just want to use cart and need help!

Looking at your current site. This is portable to ZenCart at almost 95+% level.

I don't know of any cart that is modular to allow what you want. There are security issues and many other issues that preclude picking the pieces that you want and maintaining this security.

You seem to be stuck on your concept of what it is that you want without giving a fair go at porting your style into ZenCart. There are really so many features that assist in the many areas that become important at any successful online store that you should not over look them. i.e. inventory control, bookeeping records, customer statistics, site statistics, product views, and on and on...

Give it some reasonable thought as a workaround for what you want is most likely not available in any cart system. This would require that you code some functions to fit your current site to allow a cart like collection of items being added and then all the associated totaling, payment, and so on. Not for the faint of heart.

Re: Just want to use cart and need help!

If you have someone helping you and you have a design, can you not as has been suggested use your design on a Zen Cart ? I really don't think you are going to find anything that works in the way that you are asking, you are much better off to choose a system and convert your design to it.

If you are intent on finding out what has been posted on your own you can google for ' open source shopping cart ' and you will find many. As this is the Zen Cart forum most individuals here are familiar with it and some have experience with others but this is not the source for all requests. We all apologize for any dis-respect from a member of the community.
