Very Slow Page Loads... ZC 1.3.0.2

I am using 1.3.0.2 with Image Handler 2 module and Sales report 1.4. I have noticed unusually slow page loads recently. These slow page loads occur only when accessing Zen Cart pages. The rest of the site loads very fast.

I am trying to track down the reason for the slow page loads. Sometimes the pages will load fast, other times very slow. Could it caused by server load? Database issues?

I can't exactly tell you why it's slow - it's wasn't that slow for me compared to others - but I do want to say - I love the template ! If you take credit for that I just gotta say kudos to you!:thumbsup:

you may want to see if your host can restart mysql and apache.
see if that helps with the speed,

Turn of GZip for your site ...

If you are not using Upcoming products, turn them all off in the Index Listing ...

If not using the New Products Centerbox ... turn them all off in the Index Listing ...

While testing ... your store is suddenly faster ... did you get a restart as Merlin suggested?

I have turned off all the Special, Featured, and Upcoming Products in the index listing. Also GZip compression is off.

My hosting service may have been rebooting when you checked the site or have just shutdown a runaway service.

Please remember that Zen Cart is a database drivin product,
and in itself cretes quite a few queries,

Yes, I think it is MySQL server overload causing the problem. The Zen Cart pages are affected noticably when the MySQL server is bogged down even when compard to other database driven pages on the same site.

I was clicking around right now and its VERY fast... in fact one of the fastest I have seen to date.

I have built 3 stores for clients so far and the latest one is EXTREMELY slow. The 2 that are "ok" are 1.27, this one is 1.3.

I'm going to try turning stuff off...

So i turned off everything i could see that i didn't need.... the admin is even slower than the cutomer facing store.... so i just went to the db and made a whole lot of things "0" ;)

Pages still load VERY slow...

can some of you folks give it a try and give me some feedback/comments/suggestions please.

make sure that you have things indexed,
make sure that the server isnt beat up,

the slow loading has been fixed !

Turns out, the mySQL box was too far from the web server box (different hosting company ect.). When i installed the db on the same box as the web server... TA DA !

last time a client tells me he will "get me the db info LATER"... and i decide to install on my own db in the interim....

Just wanted to let everyone know my slow page loads were traced to a bogged down mysql server running in a shared hosting environment. Zen cart makes quite a few sql queries so when the mysql server got bogged down zen cart page loads would slow way down compared to other pages that had simple/few sql queries.

I had my hosting service move me to a mysql 5 server that performed better and haven't had the problems I was having before (there are occasional slow downs, but again it is not a zen cart issue).

As noted above, some hosting services run mysql on a different server than the server that host your web pages, that in itself can slow things down a bit. It really depends on how well the server admins configure their servers and how well they load balance.

Admin > Configuration > Logging
Display The Page Parse Time = True

By turning on the above option, which will show at bottom of every page, you can determine if the Server you are on is slow. The second time you load a page and every page load thereafter, should show less than 1 sec; for Parse Time & Query Time.

Right now the site is loading fast.

Can anyone help me on why my page is dogging? I started to create the site and don't even have any products on it yet.
I left the Parse logging true so you can see the times.

Your server is horribly slow ... I have sites with 1000s of products run faster than that ... :eek:

You can try turning on GZip in the Admin ... Configuration ... GZip ...

And if still slower than 0.2 seconds speak to your hosting site about a less overloaded server or perhaps look into our Certified Hosting sites via the Hosting link at the top of your screen ...
