Re: I have a '?' instead of the '€' ? help

Check the Configuration ... Email Options ...

More than likely the translation setting for the TEXT emails is goobered up ...

Convert currencies for Text emails
What currency conversions do you need for Text emails?
Default = £,£:€,€

Re: I have a '?' instead of the '€' ? help

I have three currencies on my store, Euro, GB pounds and US dollar. The Euro is the default for payment. This is in Admin-Localization-currencies.

Cheers

Could you post the ones you have for Euro?

For the Symbol Left, try using: €

Re: I have a '?' instead of the '€' ? help

What version Zen Cart?

Clean install or upgrade?

If upgrade, what did you upgrade from?

If an upgrade, how did you upgrade?

Are you sure you upgrade both default files and overrides?

Re: I have a '?' instead of the '€' ? help

Could be the translation is not being done ... or an old method is still in place etc. and the old method could get corrupted and switch to the ? vs the €

Happen to have Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com ... you could do an FTP compare of a clean Zen Cart v1.3.0.2 with your webiste and see who might be out of date ...

You might peek at the /includes/functions/functions_email.php and see if there is a line with CURRENCIES_TRANSLATIONS around line 86 ...

I'd have to fool with it for awhile to remember all the things that might effect this if you have files out of date ...

Re: I have a '?' instead of the '€' ? help

Linda, I will have a look and see what I can find. The Portuguese was translated to the current version, so am not sure ?? I will go and have a look at that file and see whats in there.

Here is what is in /includes/functions/functions_email.php and see if there is a line with CURRENCIES_TRANSLATIONS around line 86:

// clean up currencies for text emails
      $zen_fix_currencies = split("[:,]" , CURRENCIES_TRANSLATIONS);
      $size = sizeof($zen_fix_currencies);
      for ($i=0, $n=$size; $i<$n; $i+=2) {
        $zen_fix_current = $zen_fix_currencies[$i];
        $zen_fix_replace = $zen_fix_currencies[$i+1];
        if (strlen($zen_fix_current)>0) {
          while (strpos($email_text, $zen_fix_current)) $email_text = str_replace($zen_fix_current, $zen_fix_replace, $email_text);
        }

Cheers for the help, if you think of anything else please let me know, bit lost, and it doesn't look very proffesional having the '?' in the e-mails sent to clients :down:

Re: I have a '?' instead of the '€' ? help

I had the same problem. I noticed that the admin page I used to add the euro sign (alt+0128) was displayed in UTF8, so browsing the products as normal user with UTF8 the euro sign was fine (IE= View, Encoding, Unicode).
But opening a new browser, automatically will use the Western European character set even if Autoselect is checked. So I went again in admin panel and before to add again the euro sign I set the browser to display Western European. After updating the user pages was just fine. :smile:
