Auction Product Type

Wilkesy:

Hi all,

I have just downloaded this and installed it. Everything seems to be working great and will do exactly what im after except that ive come across 1 small problem.

I set a product up with a £50 reserve price, i went in and placed a bid as a customer would for £20, bid accepted. However it still says that the reserve has not been met, but i am not able to enter another bid? Why is this?

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Paul

The intention was that you could not bid against yourself UNLESS the reserve price wasnt met. I thought I had that working.

Since it appears that others are now playing with the code (yeah) I will upload the last load I have. There are only little things in there, but for completeness...

Re: Auction Product Type

AndyII:

here is what I am up against,
if the bidder doesnt follow through with the auction and pay for it, I dont seem to have any records to point me to who it is, and I assumed that the bidder ID was the customer ID but it seems not so, I even bid on an item took the bidder ID (me) and compared it to customer ID's, and it wasn't me
I have been searching files and did find one I thought would do the trick, (tpl_product_auction_info_display.php)
it had been modified from the original, I replaced the absent code but still showing just the Bidder ID, maybe there is more than 1 file that would need to be changed, anyway we have a forum bridged with zen and was looking into using the forum nick as the identifier
either that or the owner should get an email with the winning bidders info, I hadn't received any.
I did get out bid notices from when I had bid...
original code

changed code
BIDDER_ID <> CUSTOMER_ID the reason is that a customer may make serveral bids on the same item... see zen_products_auctions table

Re: Auction Product Type

hmmmmm still having alot of trouble with the emails! i am not getting any emails at all when the auctions finish. I have tried it with both the cron job and the now page refresh method. Are there any other settings to try?

I have looked in the database and according to the table the email has been sent as the flags are marked with a 'Y' so the script has run but no emails. hmmmmm confused.

Cheers

Re: Auction Product Type

I know it works fine for me and it has for others. I also know that some have the same issues as you report. I can only assume that it has to do with the type of sendmail that your server supports. You will need to walk thru the steps and watch what happens. The easiest way to so do that, I think, is to use the cron job. It calls the mail code directly and it is therefore traceable. Setup an auction that ends right away and bid on it. You will have a test item. Then step the cron job into the sendmail code and watch what it does. You might need an SSH / telnet session to do this right, at least that is how I would do it.

Other than that I can tell why email works for some but not for others.

Cheers!

Re: Auction Product Type

Hi,

Hmmm thought i had realised why the emails werent working but i turned out to be wrong.

Can i ask a question about the cron job? How does $_SESSION['language']; actually get the language? surely by running thi con job its not going to be getting a proper session with all the variables??

Cheers

Re: Auction Product Type

SORTED! i know what is happening with the emails now. For some reason its not getting the customer_email from the table. I have numerous 'Malformed email' alerts in my inbox and the 'to address' is blank.

hmmmm now all i need to do is find out why this is happening.

Anyone got any ideas?

Re: Auction Product Type

After some testing i have confirmed that the email problem is definately with the variables that are passed into the functions and queries. For some reason they are not being passed through properly from function to function. I took out the variables in the queries and replaced them with the actual values and i got the emails perfectly.

Ill have a good look into this over the weekend, im not sure if its just me but the whole class.productauction.php file seems too complicated and drawn out. Ill have a play around and see what i can come up with.

cheers

Re: Auction Product Type

I get the following error when i go to add a product.Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/corbeau/public_html/catalogue/shop/admin/includes/modules/product_auction/collect_info.php on line 473

I assume that when you add an auction based product that you go to catalogue/products go to the category and choose product-auction from the drop down menu.

Thanks

Re: Auction Product Type

I just installed v99 into zen138a and I have the server error problem.
Auctions work correctly except the first bid on an item returns the server error page. clicking the back button returns to the auction page and shows the bid placed correctly. My server error log shows this error:

[error] [client ] malformed header from script. Bad header=No recipient addresses found i: /var/chroot/home/content/f/o/r/forgottenwoods/html/index.php

I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and the problem persists. Any ideas how to solve this?

Emails seem to work OK although I think I was sent a winning bid notice on one that I did not bid on yet. I seem to remember a year or so ago that was a problem with the mod, if an auction closed without a bid then the last winning bidder of the previous auction was sent a winning bid notice?
I will test it more today.

Thanks for any advice

Thanks for your reply, where abouts does the missing code go in line 470.

I think this is my current line 470.

I put it after the last line in that section and just above the </td> like this:

echo zen_draw_textarea_field('products_description[' . $languages[$i]['id'] . ']', 'soft', '100%', '20', (isset($products_description[$languages[$i]['id']])) ? stripslashes($products_description[$languages[$i]['id']]) : zen_get_products_description($pInfo->products_id, $languages[$i]['id'])); //,'id="'.'products_description' . $languages[$i]['id'] . '"');
} ?>
</td>
</tr>
</table></td>

Do you know what it can be.

I did but I got an error message come up saying
Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /catalogue/shop/admin/sqlpatch.php on this server.

, so I did it via FTP direct to sqlpatch.php

I don't think you can alter the database with FTP. You need to run the sql script to add the tables to the database. How did you try to run the sql?

My first attemp was the normal copy/paste in admin/tools install sql patches which gave the error code above, i then opened the file in the browse box and uploaded which gave the following message:

Already tried that, and it says the same messages on both copy/paste and browse the file and upload. I will give it another attempt tomorow as its getting quite late now. Thanks for your help so far.
