Several questions on how toos for thos ewilling helpers

Hi all.

I have everal questions on how to do somethings. I am using the latest version (downloaded today)

Here is the list of things I would like to do, but cant work out how to do them.

  1. Remove the "New Products for " from base of main index page.
  2. Change the font and size in menus, headers, navigations, all accross.

I am simply modifying the default template to suit my needs for this client who wants it simple and clean.

Can anyone advise me on how to do the above, I am sure I will have more but for the time being these have me stumped.

My only addon is Gallery addon and can be seen here breezy

Re: Several questions on how toos for thos ewilling helpers

  1. Admin->Configuration->Index Listing->New Products Show on Main Page = 0

  2. You'll need to edit various settings in your stylesheet to change font-sizes etc... starting with h3.leftBoxHeading, h3.rightBoxHeading etc

Re: Several questions on how toos for thos ewilling helpers

Darn it, I cant believe its that obvious, I lookede everywhere but index listings, lol.

Thanks.

I have looked at the default style sheet in default template and its not got those listed, however the one in classic does, so would I be right in assuming the classic one is also used with the default template?

I noticed those.

Question.

the site i am working on - https://www.spottedhaggis.com/macrozen

Note the top of the left column has a gap, where as the right does not?

I see in the css a leftboxcontainer, but no right one?

(just added this in)

aha, I copied the leftboxcontainer, changed it to right and its now the same

Re: Several questions on how toos for thos ewilling helpers

interesting. Am I right in when you g to the site all you get is a huge flash image?

Could be because I am using this to give the blue to white colour

<DIV ID="oFilterDIV" STYLE="position:relative; width:100%; height:140px;
 filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Gradient(GradientType=1, StartColorStr='#ffffFF', EndColorStr='#0000ff')">

anyone know a solution?

Re: Several questions on how toos for thos ewilling helpers

Firefox seems to struggle with Iframes as well, so to be honest I am not bothered. It still appears to be buggy in support for standard things.

I'm not so sure that's a good approach to take, unless you're a Microsoft employee.
Whether FF does the things you want IE to do or not isn't relative in online shopping. The important thing is whether a customer can use your site. If they can't use it, you don't make sales. Period.
Secondarily, if search engines can't get your content, you don't get ranking ... and iFrames and Flash objects generally aren't indexed. So, using them does nothing for your rankings, so be sure you don't have important spider-food hidden in those less-necessary constructs.

I assume you sorted out your alignment/CSS issues?

Re: Several questions on how toos for thos ewilling helpers

Hi again.

Thanks for the info, sadly there is not realy any other way to achieve this graded effect withut the us of MS scripting unless you know another way. I already tried using images, but the resized on a larger monitor loked terrible so went with this instead.

I did manage t figure out the CSS. as it happens I had never had much of a fiddle with css, I had always loaded css files into notepad, however loading it into DW allows me to see all the variable options at first glance I can use which changed the entire way I thought, and subsequently have been able to achieve a hell of a oad moe with css than I could before, when I simply applied a border or added a background to make a table lok the way I wanted.

Thanks for the help on that.

The box cut off issue turned out to be something very weird indeed, but is also resolved.

The nly problem I am struggling with now is the shipping.

I am using the free shipping module. but cannot get past stage 1 of checkout.

The way the shipping needs to work is this.

Cart value up to £29.99 = shipping £2.95
Cart value £30.00 or greater and shipping is free.
Since shipping is free after £30 the shipping is not offered, hence this appears to be the issue that I cannot get round.

I have read loads of threads where others had similar issues and checked all the things they tried, and it all loks perfect.

Do yuo have any ideas on this, is it possible that as I uploaded many of the mods available (before modifying the store) that I have a corruption somewhere?

Chances are that using some CSS and some small repeating images would accomplish it in a far more cross-browser-compliant way. There are a number of tutorials on this concept scattered across the net.

Re: Several questions on how toos for thos ewilling helpers

hi

I have now modified it removed all Microsoft scripting and now use background images, works just as well, if not maybe a little slower.

I have managed to get them all to display now in firefox, however the transparency option on the flash appears to not work in firefox, only in IE.

Any ideas?
