Too much white space around my header

I cannot figure out how to remove the space beneath my logo and how to add another image right next to it, like a sales announcement.

It appears that your az_logo is 208 pixels in height and that is the reason you see what you do.

IF your picture is NOT 208 pixels in height, you need to change the setting in your header.php.

If it is 208 pixels in height, you can change it by cropping off the bottom white space. You will still need to make sure the setting in the header.php so that it is not larger than the logo.gif

Adding an additional graphic can be done in several ways. Simplest is to combine them into one az_logo.gif.

ok, so do you know how i can add an image next to it? or any other suggestions to fill that dead space?

I know how to make a "text image" but i dont know how to insert it. or, actually, where. the guy i hired to do my conversion from OSC left me high and dry, so i'm trying to figure this out on my own. nevermind the fact that now i have spent countless hours completely altering the template i paid $200 for. but i digress...

Take your az_logo.gif into photoshop and change the canvas size to say 416 x 162 leaving the existing logo on the far left. Add your text, graphic, etc. in the newly created 208 x 162

You will need to re-configure the "topbanner" TDs to allow room for the new logo.

thanks-- i will probably end up doing that. i was hoping to figure out where i can just insert images as needed, announcing sales or other notices, but i think redoing the header each time is probably the easiest way to fix it. and esp. so that it's consistently uniform. thanks again.

When you create a sale or special in the admin control panel, they are automatically announced for you.

what do you mean? where are they announced?

The reference is to putting products "on sale" within your store ... See Admin->Catalog->Specials .... and Salemaker.

Oh- gotcha. I thought you meant it could add text to announce it. Thanks for your help!
