Anything over 10MB not downloading

I have searched on this site for a while and all I see is that people have fixed their download problems with permission settings of 777 and 755 and such but I have a little bit of a different problem I have read a lot of threads and the first question that was always asked was: (so I will answer those as well)

What version of Zen Cart? most current with the new bugfix 1.3.2 (I believe)

Is this a clean install or an upgrade? clean install

If an upgrade, what version did you upgrade from?

Has this ever worked? yes under 10mb they work

/pub should be 777: it is

Download files should be loaded in /download : they are (no subfolders)

The filenames should contain no spaces nor special characters ...no special characters

Files should be Zipped ... they are zipped

Is this a unix or windows server? Windows

Do you have Redirect turned on in the Attribute Settings? No

How large is the download? mostly over 10MB

What happens if you try a small download around 100k? Anything under 10Mb works just fine.

Why is it that bigger files won't download? I run a scrapbooking site and I have big files, if I make all the downloads under 10MB I will have to have like 5 or six different download files and I know that other scrapsites have big downloads ... what might be wrong .
Thanks so much

A limitation file size rests with your hosting site ...

Tell them you need to download monster files so they can make the proper adjustment of the file size that you can download ...

Re: Anything over 10MB not downloading

My hosting server is saying they don't know why its not working and they wanna make sure the store is set up correctly ???!!! I know the store is set up right because I can download anything under 10MB!!!! Cause if its set up wrong I would not be able to do that either. Right???

I am still waiting for a response from them ... this is very frustrating. I just wanted to give an update ...
Thanks for your help.

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry.

As we are aware of customer experiencing intermmittent issues with PHP

With regards to the download timing out, the issue could be browser
related. There is alot of helpful information online documenting this.

If you are using Internet Explorer, we recommend for you to try
following the instructoins in the link below:
http://www.softforall.com/Internet/Browsers/IE_Timeout_Tuner06010103.htm

AAAHHHHHHHHH I have not yet tried the e-mail but I am not using IE I am on AOL, but i should not have issues at all I am soooooooo frustrated. :(

Re: Anything over 10MB not downloading

Have you tested any of these downloads using a non-AOL connection?

Re: Anything over 10MB not downloading

Yes I have - I have tried mozilla ... and IE and neither works (anything under 10MB works just fine on all 3 even aol!!) and I downloaded the link they gave me but I don't know what to do with that - there is a pop-up window where there are minutes to input but - it still does the same thing it gives the error ... I won't give up this is frustrating. :(

Re: Anything over 10MB not downloading

I should have been more clear.
By a non-AOL connection, I meant from another computer that's not connected to the internet via AOL.

Re: Anything over 10MB not downloading

I have done some more reading and could this be the problem maybe ... I don't really understand htaccess, but this is what it said on my hosting server:

II. Interference with an .htaccess file
If you have implemented .htaccess on your site, it may be interfering with the web page you are trying to load into your browser. Please either remove the .htaccess file or double check the .htaccess configurations to ensure that it doesn't contain any errors. We currently only support .htaccess the following directives:

AuthType
ErrorDocument
RewriteEngine
Redirect

I did enable htaccess and tried again and also deleted the files but neither option worked. still the same error.

Re: Anything over 10MB not downloading

Your site is probably setup to only manage files under 10mb ...

This is a server issue ...

You hosting site really needs to increase the limit on your domain so that you can download larger files ...

Re: Anything over 10MB not downloading

OK - I know you said that before and I e-mailed them exactly what you said but I am dealing with one moron over there that does not even read my e-mails correctly cause I told him about the code I set up for him and he sent me 3 more e-mails asking me for the code GGGGGGRRRRRRRR

It is very frustrating for me so I am sorry that you had to once again say that about the hosting server I will focus more on them ... I am just trying to find out as much info on my own ...

Re: Anything over 10MB not downloading

OK so I have contacted my hosting server but I really don't know what to do with this info ??? Will zencart still work if I make a sub ftp folder???
I don't wanna screw up my cart

Thanks bunches in advances

You virtually have no limit to download from your web site, so long as
the file isn't larger than the total allotted space or if you surpass
your total bandwidth for the month. However, if you are referring to
the e-mail functionality of your account, then yes, there would be a 10MB
limit, as would be the standard for most if not all web hosts.

If you need to share files of 100MB of size or more, simply setup a
sub-ftp account for those who require the ability to download/upload these
files.

Refer to: **** for more
information regarding sub FTP accounts.

By setting up a sub-ftp account you can put the large file (by
uploading it) on the web server and provide those who need to download the file
a download link.

http://www.hookedondigiscrap.com/subftpdirectory/nameoffile.pdf

"subftpdirectory" being the directory you created (from the
instructions), and nameoffile.pdf is an example filename... this would be the file
you need to be accessed.

If you require them (your customers/users) to upload a file of that
size, simply provide them the log in information and they would simply
have access to that directory ONLY for uploading and downloading.

I can't have it say subft because it has to say store right??? I am so confused.

If your server is already sending your content via gzip and you tell Zen Cart to use gzip, then yes you could encounter that sort of problem.

Re: Anything over 10MB not downloading

I'm having a similar problem. My file is 83mb. I know it's not a server limit because if I path directly to it in the browser it downloads just fine. All 83mb comes through and it runs perfectly. Going through the cart it gets to about 42mb and indicates that the download is complete. This is the exact same file. I'm using a Windows hosting plan with GZIP disabled in my cart. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd really like to be able to offer downloadable programs for my international customers as shipping is almost as much as the product. Thanks!
