A little more info...
Download by redirect = false
When Download by Streaming = true, it gets to only 4.5mb and says that it's complete.

download by streaming reads the file from your server, and sends it in 2K chunks to the browser.
If it's ending partway through, it would suggest that your webserver is halting it.
... esp since as you say, a direct FTP download works fine.

Ok, thanks. So when it's disabled, what could the problem be? It is getting all the way to 40+mb and stopping. Smaller files come through fine.

Same thing. A limit set by your webserver software ... IIS or apache

There are several ways a file can be downloaded:

Thank you for your time. Let me see if I got this right...
There is some sort of transfer limit that is set on my server that would cause file downloads to behave differently if I type {server}/cart/downloads/{file_name} in my browser and select "Save to disk" vs. clicking the download button on my invoice page and selecting "Save to disk".
What limit do I ask my host tech support to check/increase? Please pardon my lack of knowledge in this whole file transfer thing.
New Zenner
that should be {server}/cart/download/{file_name} ,sorry.

Ok, it's much clearer now. Is there a way in ZenCart to force direct URL via the download button on the invoice page? Do I paste the full URL in the attributes settings? Otherwise I have to figure out where the limit is in example 4 above.
Sensei
Zen Cart does not supply direct URL's, for security reasons. Do you really want your customers to be able to share download URL's with their buddies?

I had a simimlar prblem crop up this morning. nothing over 6 MB would download for me.
So, I called my host....
The download funtionality goes through the PHP processor to send the file since it does not give you a direct link to the file. He figured that out when I read the link URL to him.
My host increased the PHP maximum execution time and I now hoave no problems downloading my 48 MB file (the largest one in my store currently).
This is something that should perhaps be put into the knowledge base!!!!!
Please!!
