Fatal error required language file is missing

My shop was working fine suddenly stopped working this afternoon,
Admin area works and I can login and log off easily, whenever I load
http://localhost/shop//index.php I get one warning followed by a fatal error
message and nothing else.

Could anybody tell what causing the following warning and the fatal error message.

Warning: require(includes/languages/.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\shop\includes\application_top.php on line 355

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/languages/.php' (include_path='.;C:\php5\pear') in C:\shop\includes\application_top.php on line 355
