Multiple Ship tables based on delivery speed?

I've seen discussions of flat rate shipping based on delivery time (ground, 2nd day, 3rd day...etc). I need to charge shipping based on the total amount ordered, plus two different prices, one for ground and one for 2nd day.

                          ground 2nd day

$0 to $50.00 $5.95 $14.95
$50.01 to $100 $6.95 $19.95
$100.01 to $200.00 $8.95 $25.95
$200.01 to $500.00 $15.95 $38.95

I'm assuming the way to do this is to create dup tables in shipping/modules/? Or am I missing the correct way of doing this? I've been searching through menus/google/forums for a couple of hours now and i'm stumped.

Re: Multiple Ship tables based on delivery speed?

Yeah, I need this too. I'm doing a table based on total order price, plus a rate for international (outside the US), and rates for 2-day, 3-day, and a zone-based rate.

Any ideas on the speed-based rates that can be set as flat rates? I'm not interested in using UPS or FedEx live rates, just setting up a flat rate table based on speed.

Re: Multiple Ship tables based on delivery speed?

I have multiple product types ranging from free shipping to set rate shipping and table rate shipping depending on the dropshipping company that I use or the targeted businesses that I have a strategic alliance with to provide a service.

The way I have overcome the shipping problem is realy quite simple. I changed the weight index from lb, lbs to Shipping Rate. I then created a table to reflect the rates. e.g.a rate of <=1 represents free shipping ,=1 :0.00, then a rate of <=10: 10, <=20: 20 and so on until I have covered all my shipping cost structures.

Now all I have to do is slot the product weight into the the Rate Code as a number eg, 500g = Shipping Rate 500 and it works. If a supplyer uses a fixed shipping cost of say £5.50 I just give the product a weight that equals the £5.50 across the board for all of his products in that shipping price band.

A brief note in the shipping blog explains the shipping rate system. The punters don't seem to mind only seeing the words Shipping Rate = 3000 or Shipping Rate = 0 in the product catagory, the shipping price in the estimator box or in the checkout box.

It appears that all they are concerned with is how much its going to cost them in the end and this will either be acceptable or not.

It does however make life a lot more easy than having several choices of shipping cost for the punter to choose from. Especially if each shipping choice is for specific products from different supplyers at diferent rates.

I hope this system helps some Zenners to overcome their shipping problems.

Further to the above, This system seems to work fine with the new Royal Mail postal system based on weight and size of packages.
