This is an old thread, but I've nearly got my site configured for use, but am having this same problem. I've tried editing the index/configure.php file as you suggest above, but it doesn't work, and in fact makes it worse.

Specifically, when I try to log in I get an error, backspacing reveals that I am logged in, same problem with when I log out.
Any ideas of how my similar problem requires a slightly different solution?
