How do EZ-Pages work?

tekram:

Ok, i am really confused here how to use EZ Pages and for waht. I have seen that tutotial but it does not clarify it for me. It just might be me :( (https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?help=no&article=117)

What I want to do is just create a page like an "About Us."

I tried playing around with it but I am not sure what the naming convention is for the link. is it just the page title? I created a page but it keeps coming up as not found.

sorry for the newbie q.
Enter the keywords for what you are looking for in the Software add-ons section.
There are plenty of mods for adding pages there.
You don't use EZ pages for that, they are useful for building linked pages and chapters.

Re: How do EZ-Pages work?

I set up a "contact us" page as an EZ page, but I don't know how to link it to my e-mail address.
Also, does anybody know about how to link the shopping cart to the merchant services gateway?

Sorry to say, but this is another example of incorrect use of EZ pages.
There is a ready-made Contact Us page in Zen Cart out-of-the-box.
Why not use that one?
Depending on what payment gateway you are using you have to install the corresponding module.
Look in Admin --> Modules --> Payment.
If you can't find it there, chances are that there are extra modules in the add-ons section.

Re: How do EZ-Pages work?

Sorry, I did not express myself right. I did not set it up as an EZ page, I just defined the page using the define page editor(greetings and stuff). However, I still can't get the "contact us" info e-mailed to where I want it to go. Any suggestions?:dontgetit

Please don't clog up this EZ-Pages thread with unrelated questions.

Re: How do EZ-Pages work?

I have searched far and long for this. I know I can count on the forum to help.

I am editing ezpages, however, when I try to use an external or internal link, I lose my TOC and nothing shows. The link I am trying to use works fine when I put it in the HTML section (and the TOC shows up when I do that too). I must have a setting wrong I can't find. I have read and tried about everything and this forum is my last resort. PLEASE can anyone help?:frusty:

mjmazza,
Post #14 here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84740
Hmm...that mod. is for users building a site with lots of HTML, not so much emphasis on products, therefore not the main target of Zen Cart.
Seems to me that something is malfunctioning on EZ pages setup, don't know exactly what, you will have to check all your files to see if something's missing.
Links should work fine, look earlier in the thread for a discussion about links in EZ pages between Kuroi and myself.

Please note that a TOC works only inside a chapter.

Re: How do EZ-Pages work?

If you want to create an ezpage, then you want to give it a name like contact-us for example, Simple SEO Url can certainly help you do that (only version 3+ supports that)

For example, I can create an ezpage and the use link-alias to change it to:
site.com/whatever-i-want-here

Re: How do EZ-Pages work?

can you tell me how I can create in image upload rather than a link to an image file to get the photo into an EZ Page ... right now, all I have is the ability to post an image by linking to one that is already hosted. I need to be able to browse to a local folder and post it ... does anyone know how i can do that?

You can't do this with an EZ-Page. You would need to upload images by FTP and then point to them.

It will allow you to browse your local computer and insert an image. Zen's default HTML editor doesn't have that feature built in.. but Kuroi is right.. the better way to do it is the way he suggests..

You can use FCK editor, I know you can do this with a bit of tweaking.

In my usage, the FCK Editor add-on doesn't seem to require any tweaking.. It comes with features which allow you to upload files from your local computer or use files you've previously uploaded to the server. (Whether you uploaded the files via the FCK Editor's upload tool or via FTP)

The caveat with using this add-on is that these uploaded files reside in a separate "files" directory (as opposed to the images directory) So if you decide you want to use FTP to upload files that you will later access via the FCK Editor, the files must go into this "files" directory.

Re: How do EZ-Pages work?

If I remember correctly you will have to tweak it a bit as the image folder is hardcoded in the setting file, and if you want to be able to upload to the folder you want to have to change it.

Re: How do EZ-Pages work?

I want to use the EZ pages for a Recipe Book, making the first page a directory of products the recipes are related to, then have each "page" being recipes for that product or group of products.

When I set up two test pages, I get the PREV/NEXT buttons, AND a "Continue" button, but they don't work right.

Also, the TOC box is RIGHT justified, and I'd prefer it centered or left.

Is there a way to remove the buttons from the top, and edit the layout?

Thanks.
