Adding product to customers cart

I want to add a product to a customer's cart.

Is there any way I can do this?

I must admit at the moment it's because I haven't got the "downloadable files" thing right, but it seems like a good enough idea in general (doesn't it?).

I'm not sure I follow you clearly.

What is the problem you're trying to solve?

Re: Adding product to customers cart

I've only just remembered I started this thread, sorry.

What I want to do is put a downloadable product into a customers cart.

I have pdf files as downloadable products, but not directly. When a customer orders one I create a customised copy of the file (each page is stamped with their customer number) and and email it to them. Because enough ISP's are daft enough to block any attachment at all I'm currently having some problems.

I don't have time to follow the code through and get the whole thing automated, so I wondered if there's an easy existing route to put a downloadable product into a specific customer's cart.

As an extra question, can I know when/if my customers have succesfully downloaded their file(s)?

Regards (& apologies for being forgetful)
Mark
