Your Experience with SSL certificates

I am wondering if anyone else experienced their website going "offline" or getting a "page not found" after purchasing an SSL certificate?

Thats what is happening to me and I am just curious to know how long everyone had to wait untill their site was back up and running.

What else did you experience? (example; no ftp, some files missing, etc.)

Re: Your Experience with SSL certificates

if your site died after you installed an SSL then it wasnt installed correct,

We install several a week and there is a small window ( less than a second ) while httpd restarts

Re: Your Experience with SSL certificates

Thanks for the reply Merlin,

This is the first time i install an SSL. I called godaddy.com support and they said it can take up to 12 hours for my site to migrate to the new server. I then asked the rep if my site will be offline for 12 hours and he said "well it might take up to 12 hours, yes" so.. if you visit https://www.everythinglebanon.com you will see it is no longer there!

So is there something you can tell me to ease my worries? And maybe ease the worries of anyone else that will be in my situation.

Thanks,
-Chris
