Standard way to apply the discounts

I know this is a very basic question but rather than spending time I will better ask here

What is the standard procedure to apply discount to products from Admin?

I went to Catalog->Categories/Products
Selected a category and then the product and then clicked on product price manager icon($)

and entered the special price etc

But I dont see any entry for the same in the products_discount_quantity table in the database. What is it used for then?

The Product Quantity Discounts are different than Specials ...

Edit the Product ...

Hit Add 5 Blanks ...

Select from the dropdown the settings for the Discount to be used ...

Enter the Qty Price breaks ...

Anything left at 0 Qty will disappear when you update ...

You can use 1 to unlimited Product Quantity Price breaks on a per Product basis ...

Dint get what you mean after this:

Hit Add 5 Blanks ...

I dont see anything like that on the Products screen

Go to the Catalog ... Products Price Manager ...

Or, hit the $ when looking at the Product list ...

Find the Product ...

Hit Edit ...

Hit Add 5 Blanks ...

I dont see any Hit Add 5 Blanks! :(

Until you go to the right page in the Admin ... you won't ... :cry:

Either hit the $ on the line with the Product Name on the listing ...

Or, go to the menu and choose:

Catalog ... Product Price Manager ...

Then the Product ...

Now hit Edit ...

Now hit Add 5 Blanks ...
