Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

OK, I'm confused.

"the redirects to the new URLs are working but the link generation is not."

How can the new URLs be working if the link generation is not?
I guess the question is; "What do you mean by new URLs?"

Josh, I'm on Skype now if you want to chat.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Well I figured it out.
The site is on on an older server and has some odd php set up.
Some how when I added the files public_html's group was changed. for some reason that prevented the new the new html_output functions to work.

I changed the group and restored the permissions and all is well.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Sorry for the offtopic... (maybe)...

I have just installed the ZenCart 1.3.8 for testing on my localhost. I acces my store from the link http://localhost/shop/

I've installed the Ultimate SEO URLs v2.106 and works excellent.
 The only problem is that i can't acces the admin/ section at all.
Everytime i write in my browser http://localhost/shop/admin/ redirects me to the http://localhost/shop/index.php?main_page=login

the RewriteBase /

Does anybody knows how to solve this?

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

I am using new install of zencart 1.38a and latest Ultimate seo.

There is no SEO Urls option in Admin - Configuration dropdown menu. Is that normal for this version of zencart or is there something wrong with my zencart install? tia.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Yes, using clean stock install and no other addons. There is neither SEO Urls nor Enable automatic redirects in the Admin - Configuration dropdown menu.

Ahh you see this is where you are haiing you problem this SEO module is not installed w/ the stock zen cart install you must go to http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=231 and down load the module. and manually add it to your zen cart. then it will show up in your admin section.

I was not clear enough. First I did a clean, stock install for zencart 1.38a tested it and then installed ultimate_seo_urls_2-106.zip according to instructions after unzipping.

Before installing U-seo there was no "Enable automatic redirects" in Configuration. After installing U-seo there was neither "Enable automatic redirects" nor "SEO Urls" in Configuration dropdown menu.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Hi:

i am running zc 1.3.8a. i just installed ultimate SEO v2.106.

I uploaded the .htaccess, edited the rewriteBase accordingly, changed enabled automatic redirect to False.

the URL seems to have changed (though i would prefer .php extentsion), but the pages do not load.

Not Found

The requested URL /shop-lela/account.html was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

the site is lela design

I know it has to be something really really simple. Anyone?

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Thanks for the replies. Turns out that the problem was cached files in the browser and network. After having my computer off for a few hours the SEO was in the Config menu.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Does the SEO Ultimate Urls work with google base feeder Mod.

Ie. does it change the Urls to friendly seo urls or are they show in the original zencart format.

If it doesn't change the google base urls does this cause problems with google rejecting the product feed because of re-directs.

many thanks in advance for any help.

I am using the google base feeder with this mod and they are NOT working together... I haven't found a way to get them to work yet but it doesn't seem like google is rejecting the URLs but that the feed is not being generated properly. Hope this helps.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Installed Ultimate with no real problems and it works with google base feeder Mod.

When downloading the latest version read very carefully before pressing the download button. I installed the spanish version by mistake.

Don't forget to put a dot before the htaccess file.

The only thing I have noticed which I don't like is the way linked items work.

I would probably say if you can afford the Magic Seo go for it instead of Ultimate due to the clear support available.

Having said that Ultimate is free

Thanks pukman,

Gave me some hope for trying this out again. Can you give specific versions of the two that you used, especially for the Google base feeder?

Thanks,

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Hi There,

I have installed this on 5 sites now over the last couple of days.

I am using the following mods:-

Securetrading credit card mod
pop up print invoice mod
google base feeder mod

On my first four sites an older version of google base feeder was installed before I installed the SEO Mod.

I have also installed the latest SEO english version on a site this afternoon on https://www.autoelectricsuk.co.uk I then installed the latest version of the google base feeder afterwards.

Everything went very smoothly with no problems at all.

I can't speak for anyone else but i am unable to ftp a file when it is .htaccess

I have to take the sample htaccess file provided in the download and rename it htaccess, I then open it with notepad and change the /shop/ to just /

I have done this because my stores are in the highest levels of my domain (ie https://www.autoelectricsuk.co.uk is my store front page.)

You then have to ftp the htaccess file up to your webspace and then rename the file again adding a dot in front of htaccess

I'm afraid I'm not a very good teacher so if you have any questions just ask away and I'm sure we can sort it out.

At some point I will buy the Magic Mod and have a little play with it.

Re: Ultimate SEO URLs

Hi Mastfastride,

Check your product text for invalid characters. I have had problems using invalid characters in my product text. The google feed mod has done its job properly and posted what I had typed. An example would be the british pound sign was in the text etc.
