template not working since upgrade to 1.3.2

Hey everyone...

I've been working on this for hours and can seem to figure out what is wrong. I just upgraded my cart from 1.26 on my live site and am working on a new install of 1.3.2

I didn't use the template system in 1.2.6 and used Beyond Compare 2 (as suggested in some forum threads) to find the differences. I did that and have setup a template system using the override tips from:

http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/faq.php?faq=template_customize#faq_overrides

Something is not working for sure... and I can't figure out why. I want to make sure that the 1.3.2 cart and template is working before I make it live.

the new store with template override issues:
http://www.armybarmy.net/estore/

issues:

  • the center column is too big, not boxed and messy... not too sure why. I'm using the same CSS file that I have for 1.2.6 with a couple minor changes but still not working like I hoped it would.
  • the footer banner (I want to use a banner) for some reason is positioned left when as far as I can tell the template overright for the footer_tpl is all centered.
  • the padding or position of the side boxes is alligned middle and not top... making you scroll to view stuff.
  • other minor issues

the current live store (1.2.6) custom edited (not using overrides)
http://www.armybarmy.com/estore/

  • this is not perfect... but working. I know I need to change the images... <grin>

any help and ideas would be great... I've tried reading the forums for each specific issue for the past 5 hours tonight and really could use some tips. Not too sure why moving from 1.2.6 to 1.3.2 messed everything up, but I want to setup a solid override template system for easy future upgrades.

thanks so much,
Curtis Cartmell

Re: template not working since upgrade to 1.3.2

Basically, the tabled system is obsolete. I'm not sure how you're building with the override system, but if you use older versions of files... big trouble. There have been a lot of changes since. I noticed that your stylesheet points to obsolete selectors or for a tabled version you've made.

As I look at your older version of store, it's not a very complex design. I can duplicate that into a current override template. Tomorrow, I could build you a duplicate(non-tabled) and send it to you. I like what your organization does and I'd like to contribute by helping out.

Re: template not working since upgrade to 1.3.2

Sketchy,

Thanks SO much... I was hoping that I was just missing something and figured that there were some changes in 1.2.6 to 1.3.2

I've uploaded my template work at:
http://www.armybarmy.net/armybarmy_template.zip

I think most of the files are new ones... I tried to rebuild using the default 1.3.2 ZIP file but I may have missed something.

Thanks again SO much... I hope these files help... and other design suggestions would be more than appreciated.

Once the template is setup... it will work in the future with most upgrades... other than major changes right?

thanks,

Re: template not working since upgrade to 1.3.2

Okay, I got your file. You can remove it from your link location now. It should contain more than enough, I just may need your images only. I have many spare current files kicking around my desktop.

You're welcome and I look forward to producing a mirrored copy of your old template, but current. Once I get near final completion, I'll PM you and pass on the link to see what you think or might want to impliment further. So, basically what you'll see is what you'll get with no surprises.

Oh yes, definitely... your new template will be current version of the override system, rest assured.
