Changing sequence of order status

When I started off my business, I didn't have many orders, so I would just have three order status (pending, processing and shipped). Basically, I'd keep everything on pending until it was ready to ship.

Now though, there's around 1500 outstanding orders and that's just not organized at all. I therefore want to have many categories to split up the pending orders. I know how to add more status, but the problem is, the new ones I create appear AFTER shipped, which gets a little messy.

Is it possible to change the sort order of the order status, so it flows in a logical manner?

Re: Changing sequence of order status

There is no built-in method for doing that at the present time.

Re: Changing sequence of order status

Wow, 1500 pending orders! What do you sell?
I use statuses as foolows:
Pending - order received and not paid
Processing - order paid (and will not change to delivered if balance to be delivered still remains)
Delivered - goods sent

Those orders that are paid on account I track for payment in a spreadsheet

Re: Changing sequence of order status

It's football shirts. I do track it on a spreadsheet, but we also want to organize it on the website, so that customers can track their order better.

Re: Changing sequence of order status

Until code is written for it, you could orphan Shipping ... rename it to something like "Old Orders Completed" and then add your new status entries, and a new Shipping to the end of the list.

Re: Changing sequence of order status

The problem is there is 17000 orders in the "shipped" section - so is there a way to move that to the end of the list?

Re: Changing sequence of order status

here's a SQL hack ... use at your own risk ... do database backups first ... you have been warned ...
No warranty or guarantee about compatibility with upgrades.
This messes with live data. You don't want to mess that up.

Before you do this, add all your new orders-status entries, or you'll be no further ahead.
Then ...
Assuming your "Shipped" status ID is 3 and you want it to become 50, run these SQL statements in your database:

UPDATE orders set orders_status = 50 where orders_status=3;
UPDATE orders_status_history set orders_status_id = 50 where orders_status=3;
UPDATE orders_status set orders_status_id = 50 where orders_status_name = 'Shipped';

**** DO A FULL DATABASE BACKUP FIRST ****

Re: Changing sequence of order status

We have a test site, perhaps we could use it on that? What's the worst that could happen?

Re: Changing sequence of order status

Spretswell,
I am trying (dying) to figure out how to change the status 'name' from Delivered to Shipped. You mentioned in your original post here how to do that.

Would you mind sharing that information with me?

Thanks,
Greg

Re: Changing sequence of order status

Hi Doc,

I was wondering can we have it sorted on the backend by Alphabetical of orders_status_name, just so it's visuallly alphabetical?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Changing sequence of order status

Well, that's a slightly different topic, despite similarities.

You can do it this way: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpost.php?p=741724&postcount=7 and use "order by orders_status_name" instead of the suggestion posted there.
