Your data could of come in the first time in the proper order ...
You may have set the master_categories_id and forgotten ...
Your pricing may not have been effected in a way that the master_categories_id was an issue ...
There are a lot of reasons ...
The master_categories_id is used to build the products_price_sorter for display purposes as the calculation on bottom line price is extensive ...
When you edit products, this is remade ...
When you add attributes, this is remade ...
There are a number of ways the products_price_sorter is re-calculated that even on imported data the field could of been updated ...
Bottom line is, if the master_categories_id is missing, there is a good chance that the products_price_sorter is missing ...
If the products_price_sorter is missing, then on displays the products cannot be properly sorted by price except by "coincidence" ...
