After customer LogIn goes back to main page

Hello everyone. After switching hosts from godaddy.com to hostgator.com i am finally warming up to cpanel and i have successfully re-installed my shop on my new server. (my database did not transfer over to my new host.. so I'm still trying to rebuild it to the way it was after weeks of configuring... :( ) i'll be ok..

Now the problem that I didnt have before is when I login with my test account it redirects me back to "Welcome Guest! Would you like to LogIn?"

Anybody know what to do? This did not happen before and the only thing that I remember doing was installing the security patches and changing the permissions to configure.php...

OK after posting this thread.. i clicked on my own link in the thread. A new page opened with my shop and I tried it out again and it worked...

the same old page was open in a different browser window and it still wasnt working....

I guess 'problem solved' but how and why did it happen??

I'm having this login issue on a live site. (http : // https://www.mindmint.com )
Customers are complaining that after creating an accoutn they are not able to login at a later time. Any ideas? I have the same problem off and on. I thought it was the difference between hitting enter at the password field and clicking the login button, but that isn't it.

I've tried clearing cache and cookies, different machines, different browsers, etc. Every so often I get in, otherwise I get redirected to the home page.

I am using the mod_rewrite and several other modules.

Also, I am on a shared host, but have my own SSL certificate. https runs on the same domain name.

I am having this problem as well.
Created a customer account and attempted to log in, after clicking login button the cart goes back to the home page with just "Welcome guest, please log in". Have cleared the browser cashe and that didnt seem to do any good. Have tried it in both Foxfire and IE. My sister is experienceing the same problem from her computer.
I did get logged in once, and have no idea why.
I should also mention that I have a local copy running on my pc and have had no problems like this.
Any ideas??

This continues to be an issue for us, and prevents us from launching our new cart.
I noticed britwolfson mentioned the same issue in this thread: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45329&page=6
But I have not been able to find a solution.
Can anyone help here?

If you guys look at the previous posts, Merlin suggests that it is a cache problem. Have you all deleted your recent internet files and cookies?

I had this problem and after I did all that and shut down my browsers it worked!

If you guys find that it works please remember to post your experience about it.

Yes, I have tried to clear the browser cashe. At first I thought it took care of the problem, since I was able to log in with Foxfire, but as soon as I closed the browser and went back I had the same problem. IE is another story all together. It doesn't seem to matter whether I clear the cashe or not, nothing works. Also, this only seems to be a problem with the version of the cart I uploaded to our web server. The copy I have running locally doesn't seem to have this problem at all.

The session advice has worked for me too.

If it's causing a lot of problems perhaps the default setting should be false to forced recreation of sessions in the next upgrade.

I have received numerous complaints as well about customers not being able to log in when they come back. Here are my settings"

The only way I have been able to login using a customer's user/pass was to close ALL open browser windows and reopen the browser program. But that is a bit too frustrating for most customers.

Now, having just read about setting sessions to FALSE, I just did that, so I will see what happens.

This seemed to have worked for me. Yesterday and today I've been banging my head against the wall trying to find out how to get the login stuff working again, because whenever I tried logging in it would shoot me back to the home page with a URL similar to this:

storeurl.com/store/?zenid=23497xxx

At first I thought it was related to Ultimate SEO, but I disabled it and it didn't fix it. Disabling recreate session seemed to have work, though. Thanks!
