Eliminating some New Products from New Product Sidebox

Recently, I had to re-add some older products into my store. Because of thie, these older products now appear in the New Product sidebox and some of the actual newer products are no longer viewable in that sidebox.

Is there a way to customize what appears as a New Product?

How about set the date of Date Available: of your older products to a Older Date.
Such as set it back to 2005-01-01.

Great idea, but it didn’t work... That would have been great if it had...

While I was at it I tried making a product that I want to appear, out of stock and then I put it back in stock, but no luck with that either..

I guess one way would be to delete a product and re-enter it, but that would be such a pain...

Actually you need to change the products_date_added field via phpMyAdmin ... this is the field used by New Products ...

The date available products_date_available is not used for anything other than display and to let customers know when you will have a product in stock ... it does not "control" anything ...

Went to phpMyAdmin, clicked ont the products field and found products_date_added. I could browse the individual date entries, but I could not find a way to edit them. I guess it must be something simple but I couldn’t find it...

There should be a nice icon on the left ... mine looks like a pencil ... and when I mouse to it, it reads Edit ... :smile:
