Redirect with .htaccess?

Hi Guys,
I have been using the .htaccess file for redirecting for a while and everything was going great while I was only redirecting HTML but I am having difficulty changing PHP pages.
The redirect I’ve been using is…

Redirect /oldfolder/p_149.html http://www.newsite.co.uk/newpage.html

No word wrap, a space between the old and new URL and everything was great.
Tried doing it with a PHP page and I just get the 404 error.]
Any ideas?
Thanks guys

Re: Redirect with .htaccess?

Could you please post the example how you used it with php redirect. This should actually work. Any info on the server logs? What's the domain name so we can test?

Re: Redirect with .htaccess?

All I did was
Redirect /oldsite/oldpage.php http://www.newsite.co.uk/newpage.html
same thing I did for the HTML pages
