Combining a Sale with a Percentage Off Coupon

Hello,

I have used the salemaker to offer a percentage off the products in my store. I have also offered my newsletter subscribers a coupon to take an additional percentage off their purchase - including sale items. The problem is that the coupon is taking the additional percentage off the sale price and not the original price. So . . . my customers are not really getting the extra percentage that I am promising them. Any suggestions?

Could you post exactly how you have the Discount Coupon setup and how you have the Sale setup?

Also check that your products all have a master_categories_id in the products table ...

I'm hoping to get an answer soon for this as the "Sale" is going on now. If an associated coupon cannot be used at the same time on a sale item then alternatively I could just take the sale off and increase the coupon. I did want to offer my newsletter subscribers a little more incentive though.

Is there a certain way I have to set this up? I want to have a percentage off sale combined with a percentage off coupon. Sale = 20% and coupon = 15% so the customer should get 35% off the product. The 15% is being taken off of the sale price and not the regular price.

I found this post in the Coupon forum. I believe even though the original poster said they are trying to combine a special with a coupon I believe the answer still may apply to my situation. Can anyone confirm whether what I am trying to do is possible?

Product is $25.00

The Sale is 20% = 25 - 20% (5.00) = $20.00

The Coupon is 15% = $20 - 15% (3.00) = $17.00

Is this the way your Sale and Coupon are calculating right now?

Yes, that is how it is calculating. My newsletter mailing indicated a 35% off savings when you used the coupon with the sale item. So, in your example, the customer would be expecting to pay 16.25 not 17.00.

Based on how the calculation works ...

You can change the Discount Coupon to 18.75% and acheive the 35% you stated in your newsletter ...

I will look further into this, but it is a solution for now ...

That worked like a charm. I guess I wasn't thinking outside of the box! I had different levels of discounts set up and adjusting the coupon percentage worked in all cases to give me my stated discount.
