Solved -- The code depends upon what version of PHP you are using.
Older versions of php (4.1.0 and prior) use "$HTTP_GET_VARS['page']" and newer versions use "$_GET['page']"
There is a file in admin, I think called xsell.php that must be changed if using the newer PHP version.
technically, this is not an issue with what version of php zen cart is running on, it's a matter of what settings you have in php.ini.
register_globals was changed to false as the default at a particular version and later. It can be changed back to true if you want, but it is not recommended because it means decreased security with your php installation. If your site is being hosted, then it depends on what they set. they could be using a lesser version but have register_globals turned off, which would cause the same issue.
I wish I had found your post before I wracked my brain for 3 :censored: hours trying to figure out what the hell was going on. sigh at least it's fixed now.
