country dropdown not working

Since upgrading to 1.3.5 the default country dropdown in the create account page does not work, its remains on "please select country" and noone can create an account - it just keeps saying that the dropdown is not selected? Any suggestions as to where i can start trying to fix this problem ?

please help!
many thanks

(tpl_modules_create_account.php seems to be the culprit ?? )

Re: country dropdown not working

I have exactly the same problem after upgrading. I hope there is a solution, because I don't fancy going back to the previous installation. Thank you!

Re: country dropdown not working

What is your default country?

Which page is this happening on? Is it only the create-account page? or My Account-Address and Checkout add-address too?

Re: country dropdown not working

Hi DrByte, thank you for your reply. For me the problem happens on all the pages that lead to the set up of an account, whether it's via the shopping cart or via the login button at the top of the page, etc. Just can't create an account without the error coming up saying that a country from the drop down list hasn't been selected.

I have set up four countries in the menu in PhpMyAdmin and changed the names to the correct language, the drop down itself works fine. I then chose one of those countries as the Default country in the Admin configuration > customer details window.

Can you please explain this in a bit more detail? "correct language" ?

I've seen some limited problems with the state/province pulldown not working, but no problems with the country pulldown.

Re: country dropdown not working

Hello again! The countries I need in the drop down menu are The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and Luxembourg. The shop is in mainly for Dutch speaking customers, so I thought it might be a good idea to change the names of the countries, plus delete all the countries I do not need. I did this in PhpMyAdmin, and then chose 'Nederland' as the default country.

Re: country dropdown not working

when you deleted, did you delete everything and re-add, or simply delete the undesired items and fix the spellings, keeping the original country records with translated names?

Re: country dropdown not working

Yes, indeed, that is what I did. I just deleted the countries I do not need and only translated the names of the countries, no other codes relating to these countries.

Re: country dropdown not working

okay ... I'm just trying to piece together the steps needed to reproduce the problem you're having, since I don't see it on a fresh install.

Re: country dropdown not working

I had the previous version of Zen Cart and saw that the brand new upgrade was available so uploaded that over the previous version, which left all the work I had already done complete, including having installed the Dutch language pack as well as a payment module. So it was not a fresh install. Thank you very much for your time and help!

Re: country dropdown not working

I had this problem too but switched to classic template and tried to create an account and worked fine so the problem was obviously in my tpl_modules_create_account.php.

Went back and looked at the files again - there were significant differences between them so re merged and all okay now.

For example this: > <?php

if (ACCOUNT_STATE == 'true') {
?>
<label class="inputLabel" for="state"><?php echo ENTRY_STATE; ?></label>

<?php if ($process == true || $entry_state_has_zones == true ) { if ($entry_state_has_zones == true) { echo zen_draw_pull_down_menu('state', $zones_array, $zone_name, ' id="state"'); } else { echo zen_draw_input_field('state', '', zen_set_field_length(TABLE_ADDRESS_BOOK, 'entry_state', '40') . ' id="state"'); } } else { echo zen_draw_input_field('state', '', zen_set_field_length(TABLE_ADDRESS_BOOK, 'entry_state', '40') . ' id="state"'); } if (zen_not_null(ENTRY_STATE_TEXT)) echo '<span class="alert">' . ENTRY_STATE_TEXT . '</span>';?> <br class="clearBoth" /> <?php } ?>

was replaced by:

<?php if (ACCOUNT_STATE == 'true') { if ($flag_show_pulldown_states == true) { ?>

<label class="inputLabel" for="stateZone"><?php echo ENTRY_STATE; ?></label>

<?php echo zen_draw_pull_down_menu('zone_id', zen_prepare_country_zones_pull_down($selected_country), $zone_id, 'id="stateZone"'); } ?>

<label class="inputLabel" for="state"><?php echo $state_field_label; ?></label>

<?php echo zen_draw_input_field('state', '', zen_set_field_length(TABLE_ADDRESS_BOOK, 'entry_state', '40') . ' id="state"' . $status_state_disabled); if (zen_not_null(ENTRY_STATE_TEXT)) echo ' <span class="alert">' . ENTRY_STATE_TEXT . '</span>'; if ($flag_show_pulldown_states == false) { echo zen_draw_hidden_field('zone_id', $zone_name); } ?> <br class="clearBoth" /> <?php } ?>

and this:

<?php $selected_country = ($_POST['country']) ? $country : SHOW_CREATE_ACCOUNT_DEFAULT_COUNTRY; ?> <?php echo zen_get_country_list('country', $selected_country, 'id="country"') . (zen_not_null(ENTRY_COUNTRY_TEXT) ? '<span class="alert">' . ENTRY_COUNTRY_TEXT . '</span>': ''); ?>

was replaced by:

<?php echo zen_get_country_list('zone_country_id', $selected_country, 'id="country" ' . ($flag_show_pulldown_states == true ? 'onchange="update_zone(this.form);"' : '')) . (zen_not_null(ENTRY_COUNTRY_TEXT) ? '<span class="alert">' . ENTRY_COUNTRY_TEXT . '</span>': ''); ?>

Re: country dropdown not working

Also having problems with the Update Address Book Entry page as well.

Its in the tpl_modules_address_book_details.php

I guess if you have these 2 files (tpl_modules_address_book_details.php, tpl_modules_create_account.php) in your templates folder then you will have the problem.

The new files that come with 1.3.5 that are in the template_default work fine.

Re: country dropdown not working

solved my problem.

includes/modules/create_account.php was updated in v135, and updated on my site to this version as well, but there was also a copy of this fle in my own template folder in the modules directory, overriding the newer 135, resulting in tpl_modules_create_account.php not working.

I updated the file in my template directory and now all works fine, also with v135 of tpl_modules_create_account.php

includes/modules/create_account.php? I do not have any overrides in there, only in the templates directory as my own template folder is there. So, I can't replace anything in includes/modules. And the "Select country" keeps appearing...

Re: country dropdown not working

ellivir - you can create a your_template override folder in modules and then make the changes to the create account file and upload into your modules/your_template directory.

Re: country dropdown not working

Make sure you use the newest version file, also make sure you upgrade any exisiting contrubition you may have installed, some are not compatiable with 1.3.5 yet.

I do not have any contribution installed in this shop.
I have the newest files of addressbook and create account in my template folder of my own theme. Still I have the problem it is asking to select the country and the code has some kind of extra text appearing in address book case that should not appear.

When not yet changed anything in addressbook, there's text "Array ()" over the form.

When trying to change something that text replaces with this:
Array ( [firstname] => Sanna [lastname] => Testaaja [street_address] => Testauspolku 123 [city] => Helsinki [postcode] => 00100 [country] => 72 [action] => update [edit] => 1 [x] => 20 [y] => 1 )
