Zen Lightbox addon [Support Thread]

athena:

thank you so much...i just implemented your post while you were posting and it WORKS!

hours and hours....i don't mean to sound ungrateful but that is a lot of time on some known error. installing this mod and un installing it on two sites all day...what a wast of time....

just did not know what to search for...tried different things with snippets of the code...and I'm reading through so many mod threads it is hard to keep track of what i know or don't know....

thanks again...

I do stand in awe that any of you take these mod designs on.....i've been at zencart for many years and have learned a lot...but still have to be on my guard about versions of pages used to make them vs my current version etc....lots to consider for a novice coder.

Glad it worked for you. I'm not the originator of the ZLB, I just took on updating it when it fell apart for the chrome updates. So old problems like this I'm just taking them on as they come up. No way I can (or have time) to comb thru this whole forum looking for other problems to try and fix.

Besides which, it's not a problem for everyone. I don't know what the common denominator is for those who share the issue, but it's not a problem on my site. Be that as it may, I tried the fix just to be on the safe side, and it removed the product name from my lightbox image. Since I prefer to have the product name intact and am not experiencing the issue to begin with, I simply put the code back in.

@Athena: It would be hard to fix an issue in a mod that isn't a global issue. As for it being a "known issue"...it's only known insofar as it is known only to the one guy who had the problem (vs. a global issue that affects all). Had you taken the time to read through the entire thread, or searched the thread for [product_number] to see if the issue already existed, you could have saved yourself hours and hours of wasted time. Taking ownership of our own mistakes helps us learn from them more so than does placing ownership on another's doorstep :)

nine hours...that is what i spent researching this problem IN THIS THREAD and in testing. and is not because i assumed it was the mod, but my own error and I don't have that kind of time. I'm not paid for this.

the guy in the post Willy, did not offer a screen shot like i took the trouble to do and did not describe what he was seeing at all. I don't know how Daniel figured out what he was talking about unless a pm was involved.

A link to the site produces nothing because the problem only occurs when you are logged on as a customer, after clicking the submit button on a review.

I never post without a follow up when the solution is found....or fail to own my errors.

This was not my error. It was the mods...and my trust in the mod, and my assumption it was my issue alone, cost me a day and a morning of my life.

That bit of ignorance of yours being exposed, you are right. It has removed the product name from the image, so is not a perfect fix.

Alex Clarke:

Ok, this is my first contribution. It allows the main product images to be displayed in lightboxes.

Not sure what a lightbox is? Download and test it out for yourself! It's a 3 step installation procedure with no database edits. And yes, a screenshot has been included in the download.

Any feedback would be great!

Thanks,

Alex

Okay, well, looks like I'm a little late to the party, I just installed this, but I can't get the image resize to work. the configuration notes say:

"If Enable Resize Animations is set to true, the lightbox will resize its width from this value to the current image width, when first displayed."

but there is no Enable Resize Animations parameter anywhere I can find, and changing the display values doesn't work.

250x250 is too small to be useful for me, but I can't get it to go any bigger.

How big is your image? Can you post a link?

It's staying at 250x250, the default. Link is

http://martialartsoutpost.com/

you can click on any product image and it will resize down to 250x250 even though I've got the parameters set to 400x400

looks like its functioning properly to me…
"If Enable Resize Animations is set to true, the lightbox will resize its width from this value to the current image width, when first displayed."

From 400x400 To 250x250 (your current size). it doesnt scale your images up for you. You'd have to do that yourself and then re-upload them

As you can see from the attached screenshot, there isn't any "resize animations" parameter available, so I can't set it to true.

The post you first quoted was almost 5 years old, I'm sure some things have changed since then. What is it you are trying to get it to do?

The post may be 5 years old, but the screenshot is less than 15 minutes old. This is the latest version of this module. If I haven't made it clear in the previous two posts. I want to override the default image size of 250x250 and have a larger image size.

How big is the image you uploaded to your server?
When I downloaded it, it was 250 x 250 exactly the size being show in ZLB.

age is redundant point here guys---it has been updated several times since then and as much as updating goes it would do no good to update something if things did not change a bit--for the better

your lightbox will only put up the size you originally upload. you want the one in the light box to get bigger then upload the prefrred size...the store software [ admin>iconfiguration>images] will dictate the size seen in the store...then lightbox will open the original size in its own prefs.

all of my images run form 400-1000xwhatever so redo your main images to the size you want---reupload them with the exact same name and the software will do its thing

ZLB will not enlarge your images.

I feel your frustration, and I understand it because I've been there myself. Pretty much everyone in the community has been there. But you need to understand a few things my dear.

  1. Nobody is paid for this. All of the people who have built zen cart, all of the people who have built the mods, all of the people who support the mods whether or not the mod is their's to support....nobody makes a dime. It's called open-source.
  2. One of the frustrations of open source software is that there is often a learning curve and a whole lot of DIY. However, this is also one of its greatest blessings, because you learn as you go - and nobody was ever harmed by learning something new.
  3. If you had to pay for zen cart software, you could count on paying at least a few hundred bucks. Then add anywhere from 15-150 per mod, depending on complexity, and you could easily spend thousands. My site would likely have cost me 1500 bucks or more, plus labor - if not for zen cart and the kind people in the zen cart community.
You have to balance out the time you spend with the money you spend. Want it free? Spend a lot of time. Want it fast? Spend a lot of money.

You just can't have it both ways chica, and a little gratitude goes a long way when people are providing free software and free support

I know it probably sounds like I'm chewing you out, but I'm not. Just trying to help you avoid making the same mistake that so many folks who are new to zen cart make: getting testy on the forum because they're frustrated and then having their requests for help ignored because nobody wants to help someone with an attitude.

So let's be friends and not get into a pi$$ing match over it

that is not me you are talking about...but this is someone with a problem: attacking someone who is doing their best to communicate their processes to help benefit the community and assuming they are just wasting everyone's time but their own. your assumptions were cruel and unjustified of someone who has posted as many pleas for help as you have. You feel my frustration...right.

OWN IT.

no idea this was happening goo you brought it up and if you are using image handler also then go to its support thread becasue there is a fix there for it...has to do with the .js file it has.
