USPS quote has 3 extra pounds on it

I'm having a strange problem with the USPS shipping module. When I click calculate shipping, the weight at the top is correct (2.1 lbs for example), but then each listed method lists the weight with 3 extra pounds (5.1 lbs). Anyone know why?
