Customer Ordered Out of Stock Disabled Product!

We are baffled!!!

In the past week, we have had (5) different customers order (5) totally different items that we manually placed as out of stock (so the product would not even show up on our webstore). At the top of each item’s product page, we can clearly see the confirmation in BOLD RED that each of these (5) products is DISABLED!

AND to make things even more confusing, we have checked our webstore site using two different browsers (IE and Mozilla) from two different computers and do not see these [disabled] items! If we cannot even see these [disabled] items, how in the world could someone buy them?

Cookies seem dubious -- how could one proceed thru checkout and CredCard authorization as such based on cached, old cookies?

Has any one seen this and if so can anyone kindly point me in the right direction to get to the bottom of this?

If no one has seen this happen, are there some hardcore Zenners out there who could give it a shot, offer up some hypothesizing or places to start?

I have done my best at searching the ZCart archives and other forums but no luck yet! I apologize if this issue or configuration is widely documented, I cannot find it anywhere - lots of close things, and lots of reverse things...but not our exact issue ...

And I normally wouldn’t post this as such but we are totally under the gun to get this taken care of. Each time we have to refund someone money for ordering an item we cannot supply, we lose money to the bank that handles the processing of the refund.

Any help, advice, or support is greatly appreciated!!!

Re: Customer Ordered Out of Stock Disabled Product!

I do not feel comfortable revealing some of this info in such an open forum and I hope you understand. Below, however, is some info I am comfortable sharing that might be of help:

Stock Settings
Check stock level true
Subtract stock true
Allow Checkout false
Mark product out of stock ***
Stock Re-order level 2
Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to 0
Show Sold Out Image in place of Add to Cart 1
Product Quantity Decimals 3
Show Shopping Cart - Delete Checkboxes or Delete Button 3
Show Shopping Cart - Update Cart Button Location 3

Could you kindly point me to a document or use some other info?

Many Thanks,
W.R.

Re: Customer Ordered Out of Stock Disabled Product!

Renner,

I think it will be fine for you to disclose the version of ZenCart that you are using and info about the webserver versions and mods you have installed, I do not see how that could hurt your site's anonymity, and it could be a contributing factor to the problem.

One thing I have come across is that the shopper visited the site previously, before the time when the product was marked out of stock, and the item was still saved in their cart upon return. I am not certain if this would occur the same way for a completely disabled product, but maybe?

Also, I would recommend checking through your entire product catalog to be sure there isn't another similar product by that name in another category. If the products were not linked, then the update for one of them would not have affected the other.

Sorry, but I do not understand your question. Could you provide us with an example of this happening on your site?

Re: Customer Ordered Out of Stock Disabled Product!

Hi Ajeh,
The URL is the products URL but is disabled in the cart as it was when I had the issue. I have enabled it for you to have a look at.

Andrew

Re: Customer Ordered Out of Stock Disabled Product!

Could be that the old version you are using was on a customer with an old cart ...

In older versions of Zen Cart the Cart was not checked to ensure out of stock products were removed ...

That is all that I can think of ...

Re: Customer Ordered Out of Stock Disabled Product!

I have experience it a couple of times before too.

I called the customers, and found out HOW it happened.

Apparantly they had kept the item in their cart for a long time, and after we disabled it on our admin, the finally decided to buy it and checked out.

Thus the order actually goes through.

I still experience this problem sometimes, but its not very often :P

Re: Customer Ordered Out of Stock Disabled Product!

Zen Cart v1.3.8 automatically tests products in the cart and removes them when set as out of stock or no longer in the database ...

Re: Customer Ordered Out of Stock Disabled Product!

This happened to me as well in one of my orders today, I'm using the latest version of Zencart 1.38a

I reproduce it by simply adding a product to a customer’s cart, then disabling it in the admin...login to customer again and it was still in the cart??

Is there a SQL code I can run from the Admin to remove all disabled products from customers saved carts?

Re: Customer Ordered Out of Stock Disabled Product!

Before just trying to clean up old carts I would want to find out why it isn't working correctly ...

I would use something like Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com and see if something is missing, corrupt or out of date in your code to locate the problem where these products are not removed from the cart when the customer logs in ...

I cannot reproduce this issue ...

Re: Customer Ordered Out of Stock Disabled Product!

The shopping_cart.php class manages the cart content based on products_status ...

If products_status = 0, the product is removed ...

Re: Customer Ordered Out of Stock Disabled Product!

From looking at the code around line 1055 from file /includes/classes/shopping_cart.php

should this be set to true?

function get_products($check_for_valid_cart = false) {
