Customer Ordered Out of Stock Disabled Product!

That was it I went ahead and tested it set to true and it works perfect....I did a clean install so I'm not sure why this is set to false? Is that by default or just a mistake?

That really isn't a good fix as you are changing the default of the function from false to true ...

Do a search with the Developers Tool Kit in the Tools ... Developers Tool Kit ... using the bottom input box and search for:
get_products(

select Catalog ... click search ...

What comes up that reads:
$_SESSION['cart']->get_products(true);

It could be you are missing the calls to that function with the proper paramater being passed ...

Ok I set it back to false and PM you the search results...thanks for your help on this.

Another question when you are testing this feature is your Zen Cart has the security patches installed like this one below:

So maybe one of these fixes messed this up??

They should not be causing problems for you on this ...

Again, without doing a compare of all of your files it is hard to pinpoint what is stopping the remove from cart the products that have their status turned off ...

I still have not reproduced this issue ...

I just had someone purchase a disabled and out of stock item. There has been no answer on how this happened. This particular item has never been enabled as it is/was a place holder for a future item, so there is no way it was lying dormant in a cached cart.

Could someone please tell me how this could have happened?

What version Zen Cart?

Clean Install or an Upgrade?

What are your settings in the Configuration ... Stock ...

Was the product Out of Stock as in products_status = 0 or 0 Quantity as in products_quantity = 0 ...

Was this Product purchased around the same time on another Order that would of put the Product on the first Order and then the Second Order went through based on the timing of the Payment processing?

Hi, we are experiencing the same problem. We had two different customers both purchase an out of stock and disabled item. The only explanation we could come up with is either a cookie problem (very stupid and unlikely) and someone saving the product in their shopping cart for a long period of time and the software is still allowing the customer to check out successfully. This is clearly a problem and needs to be addressed. Does anyone have any more suggestions??

What version of Zen Cart are you using?

Products in the shopping cart are removed if they are missing or disabled when the customer logs in ...

The only way that I can think of this happening is multiple people ordering the same item and hitting the checkout_confirmation at the exact same moment ... :unsure:

I am using 1.3.7 and I am not getting enough orders for your suggestion to be possible. It is very strange. I apparently, and thankfully, am not the only person having this problem so there must be something going on. We have a lot of products that are disabled which we enable when we have them again and also the products we sell become automatically disabled when the stock level reaches zero. It happened before we think...be we were not paying too close enough attention. Today however it happened as we had only two orders today and it happened in both of them. Now we are working with the customers tryign to figure out how they did it. Any additional thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

You are using an ancient version of Zen Cart and do not have the feature built in to automatically remove from the cart Products that are disabled where products_status = 0 ...

Well, I wouldn't consider 1.3.7 ancient, especially as people had the same problem with 1.3.8 and 1.3.9 is still in developement...but if you believe this has been fixed in the latest version that is great. Thanks a lot for your response I guess I need to consider upgrading.

Zen Cart is always under development, that is how it grows ... :smile:

But, v1.3.9d is pretty stable and way more stable and secure as well as has so many bug fixes and issues fixes plus a bazillion additional features ... I would recommend it ...

As a test, install a test directory with v1.3.9 and make a test database and copy your Live site database to the test database and Upgrade the database to see how it works ...

While the template will be different, the basics will be there for you to test things out and try testing things that you are having issues with in v1.3.7 ...

Thanks a lot for the replys! I will try to find some time to upgrade and perform the test you suggested. One of the customers wrote me back and said that the product was still there when he checked. Then he deleated his temporary folder and the products dissapeared. Anyways, I will try to get the updated sorted out asap.
