More space in header in 1.3.5 ?

Hi !

I installed 1.3.5, added my old logo from 1.3.0.2 and took away the categorie tab menu and it seems that there are an extra row between the end of the picture and the lower green "line" (see pic)

The logo have the right size, if I add a larger picture I have the same results...

Anyone know how to delete this extra row ?

Regards,

Re: More space in header in 1.3.5 ?

I also found another thing, template thing... If you look at this page, you see the header, the green color under "Home LogIn" link, the green color is "outside" the header line.. Same at footer, under where you have all the links like "Home :: My Account" and so on. I don't know if it's only I who see it but I have the same problem on my site.

Anyone that can help ?

Re: More space in header in 1.3.5 ?

The extra space issue may be from the Clear Both tag, but that was also present in the last version. Have you played around with your logo wrapper height?

I noticed the green expansion from right away on the new Classic. If you want to adjust it back in your stylesheet;

#navMain ul, #navSupp ul, #navCatTabs ul {
	margin: 0;
	padding: 0.5em 0em;
	list-style-type: none;
	text-align: center;
	line-height: 1.5em;
	}

Adjust the padding until you have it where you want it.

Thanx, that did the trick. Changed it to 0.2 and it's gone...

No, I didn't touch anything, it's the same even with the original "bridge"-logo. Clear Both-tag... What is that and how do I fix it ?

Thack you again...

You're welcome.

Well, to deflate that space... make a folder called 'common' into your classic template folder, copy and paste the tpl_header.php from the default template into your newly created 'common' folder. Open up the tpl_header.php in a editor, like Wordpad;

Find;

<br class="clearBoth" />
<!--eof-branding display-->

<!--eof-header logo and navigation display-->

Delete the line in red and test it out. :smile:

Re: More space in header in 1.3.5 ?

Thank you, that solved it. There were still a small space between the logo (header_bg.jpg) and the green line (2mm maybe) but now I could make the logo a little bit bigger and the white space is gone !

Re: More space in header in 1.3.5 ?

*Open up the tpl_header.php in a editor, like Wordpad;

Find;
Code:

<br class="clearBoth" /> <!--eof-branding display--> <!--eof-header logo and navigation display-->

Delete the line in red and test it out.*

I tried the above as well but I get a total different outcome! If I delete that line the white bar that we want to dissapear does dissapear but so does my #Navmain with home and log in. And if I play with the height of the header_bg.jpg (110px) than it disappears when bigger than 110px but the whith space remains.

I did however had a slightly different code than above:
<br class="clearBoth" />

</Div> <!--eof-branding display-->

I decided to only deleted that </div> and left the rest as it was. That did not solve the problem either but provided a different color of that anoying space underneath the header_bg and logo. Though the color is looking much better I rather have the space removed.

Besides that I am also not able to place the logo vertically aligned 'middle' in the LogoWrapper. Whatever I do it only aligns at the top.

I realy hope that someone might have another option for solving this?

Thanks in advance!

You're welcome. I have to ask though, do you mean you got all the space gone? Or is there some present still?

It all depends on the version of Zen that you have. Dr. Byte removed a DIV tag for the newer one and maybe you removed the wrong ClearBoth tag. I could help the previous member because I have the same version. If you have the same version, is the header modified at all?

About your logo in the middle, there was a discussion and guide to seperate the logo to it's own declaration, in order to isolate and command it;

Re: More space in header in 1.3.5 ?

My problems with this are solved! Thanks.

I do have version 1.3.5. that is why I responded to this thread. But somehow I did have a difference between the tpl_header.php in my template and the one from common in the default template.

As soon as I started fresh with the tpl_header.php from the default template (copied into the common in my template) the suggestion about deleting the
<br class="clearBoth" /> works perfectly without my NavMain dissapearing! I am now of course also checking the other tpl files in mytemplate common ......:blush:

The solution for the logo is a different one than mentioned in
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45734 That is about horizontal alignment and I was looking for vertical alignment of the logo.
I did find the code in my css:

#logo, .centerBoxContents, .specialsListBoxContents, .categoryListBoxContents, .centerBoxContentsAlsoPurch, .attribImg {
float: left;
}

Whatever I tried with this, it never vertically aligned only the logo the desired way (vertical middle of Logo Wrapper). It e.g. perfectly aligned my catagorie pictures mentioned on the mainpage and a lot more, except for the logo.

I finally added the following code to my css right below the above code and that did the trick:

#logo {
padding: 1.5em;
}
:smile:

No, all the spaces are now gone. When I did the header_gb.jpg a little bit bigger, the problem was solved. But it wasn't possible without deleting the line you told me to delete (<br class="clearBoth" />)... So, no problems with the spaces anymore :D...

You seems to be a guru on the css-files :D... If I want to change font and color for the categories text in the sidebox, do you know which file and line to edit ? I'm very bad when it comes to css-files :blush: I know it's offtopic but ...

I am not a guru on css but for me the follwing worked. In templates - classic - css you can find a css file called css_original. In that file you can find the follwowing code:

/* categories box parent and child categories */
A.category-top {
color: #008000;
text-decoration: none;
}
A.category-links {
color: #004080;
text-decoration: none;
}
A.category-subs, A.category-products {
color: #FF0000;
text-decoration: none;
}
SPAN.category-subs-parent {
font-weight: bold;
}
SPAN.category-subs-selected {
font-weight: bold;
}

I copied that and added it to my css file in mytemplate and it works if I change colors etc. Although I must say that I am not sure if this is the way ....

Re: More space in header in 1.3.5 ?

@Femky... you're confusing me now. :wacko:
You said you upgraded to the newest one, but yet you still have the two old skewler stylesheets for your version of 'Classic' . Isn't yours with green images or does it still have orange?

`@Typhoon;
Thank you, I'm glad it's under control. For your sidebox category headings, find in your stylesheet;

h3.leftBoxHeading, h3.leftBoxHeading a,
h3.rightBoxHeading, h3.rightBoxHeading a {
	font-size: 1em;
	color: #ffffff;
        font-family: arial;  /*font option*/
	}
#manufacturersHeading, #currenciesHeading, #musicgenresHeading, #recordcompaniesHeading, #searchHeading, #search-headerHeading {
	font-size: 0.9em;
	color: #ffffff;
        }

h3.leftBoxHeading a:hover, h3.rightBoxHeading a:hover {
	color: #FFFF33;
	text-decoration: none;
	}

.rightBoxHeading a:visited, .leftBoxHeading a:visited, .centerBoxHeading a:visited {
	color: #FFFFFF;
	}

So, basically all the lines in red will be adjusted to your preference of a new color and I have the option included to mod your sidebox header text font style. I may have forgot something, but I'll always be here.

:blush: I'm no guru with anything, but thank you all the same!

Re: More space in header in 1.3.5 ?

Hi Sketchy,

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, I did start with the new green colors etc. when I started after the update to 1.3.5. My logo and everything was gone and had to be added again. I therefore assumed everything went right but something with the templates seems to be screwed up.
I made a copy, deleted my own template and basically built it again. I now only have 1 stylesheet.css in mytemplate/css (not also stylesheet_original) and in common 1 tpl_header.php (deleted clearBoth line).

Problem seems to be solved so far and webshop is looking fine again. Not online yet so perfect for testing.

I now however have the same question as Thyphoon was asking before. You provided the answer regarding the header text color.
But what about the color and weight (bold) of the categories Content? If I change the color of .sideBoxContent {
nothing changes...... It automatically keeps the colors of *body *and its link color.

Thanks again!

Re: More space in header in 1.3.5 ?

You're welcome and thanks. I believe you already answered your own question, you were on the right track and I totally misunderstood Typhoon's inquiry, hence your confusion. I thought the question was about sidebox titles and I apologize. :(

From your portion of stylesheet that you posted, will do what you and Typhoon want. I'm sorry for the confusion as I tend to confuse myself and others on a regular basis. :laugh:

Re: More space in header in 1.3.5 ?

I can confirm that it is working! Just copy and past the code I provided ealier into your stylesheet css and ajust the colors etc as you want :smile:

And Sketchy, don't worry about the confusion. I took part in it as well, but I figured it out much quicker with the few notes/tips you provided as well as the browser development tool (a real recommendation!! - you can edit your css and see what happens without touching your original css file - look up the tag names of the things you want to change and much more).
