always display subcategories in sidebox

Need help to find a way to display the subcategories links permanently in the sidebox as the categories are.

but in any case and if I didn't missed something, the proposed adds-on allow to expends the category box to the product level (all the tree)
I didn't find a way to expend to selected level: for me Categories and sub-categories, only 2 levels.

How about the following mod.
Zen Cart Categories. Show Subcategories All The Time.
A Replacment Categories Tree for the zen-cart Shopping System. It will uncollapse all Subcategories.

I won't have time to test it now, but the result of the exemple is exactly what I was looking for.
I found an issue with "yahoo_tmenu_zc_1.2.7_0.1b" proposed in your previous links by deactivating the build product branch fonctions in php files.
I'll install this new release soon.

Thank you for the mod. It does appear to do exactly what I want to do too. One minor issue to report is that the "categories subcategories indent" appears to be printing twice. In my case, I use a nonbreaking space, then an asterix, then another nonbreaking space. If you look at my work-in-progress site, http://www.decaldepot.net/zencart you'll see that each category has " * * " before each.

Any advise on how to 'fix' this?

After numerous searching on this topic and lots of threads with dead links. I downloaded the last .zip but will this work with zen cart version 1.3.5 or is there a simpler way i can show all subcategories? Thanks

There are only two php files of the mod and two docs, one is readme.txt and the other is gnu license.txt.

The installations should within half minute. :smile:
Including one setup in admin
=> Tools => Layout Boxes Controller => sideboxes/ch_categories.php

Then enable and config the sort order of => sideboxes/ch_categories.php
Or
If you don't like two Categories Sideboxes Co-Existing
Then Disable / Config the sort order of => sideboxes/categories.php

Attached is the screen capture of the default display of the un-collapse Ch_Categories Sidebox (only show the upper portion), for your preview and run under v1.3.5.

Wow thank you so much for that i managed to get it to work straight away. I was wondering, would there be a way to get rid of the numbers that tell you how many items are in a category, example: jewellery (12). And also how could you modify the |_ before each subcategory?

Before any modification, look up at the admin first.

In admin => Configuration => My Store

Show Category Counts  	true

Show Category Counts - Admin  	true

In admin => Configuration => Layout Settings

Categories Separator between links Status  	1
Categories Separator between the Category Name and Count 	->
Categories Separator between the Category Name and Sub Categories 	|_ 
Categories Count Prefix 	 (
Categories Count Suffix 	)
Categories SubCategories Indent 	  

I just want to say a big fat thank you for that :D, it seems so obvious that i've missed it, but weeks of working on my zencart i think my brains started to give in a bit. Thanks again, you've been allot of help i appreciate it.

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately I am still having the same problem. I uploaded the new files (overwriting the old ones), turn the module off and then on again and I am getting the same double * as before. I do not see this behavior with the original categories module.

I've left both the original and the ch_category boxes on if you'd like to see what I see:

As an update, until I have time to work on this, I've changed the seperator to " " which generates two blank spaces to indent the categories. I'm not overly concerned with getting the "*" to work. I see others are not having the troubles I am facing so perhaps it is just something screwy with my set up.

I'm willing to try any additional fixes, but don't worry too much about it if others are not having problems.

The only thing that could make it better would be if you could 'fix' the issue when category names span two lines. It would be ideal if the category name would line up with the subcategory name rather than with the main category heading. I'm pretty sure this can be done with an html unordered list, but it will require a good bit of modification to the categories template php file. If you 're interested in working on this, I've started a thread here . I've given it a try but I'm by no means anything more than a novice php hacker. I think this would make a nice addition to your great contrib!
