"Your Sales Message Goes Here" Help?

Hello ZenCart Users,

I have recently installed the ZenCart open source application for one of my customers who cant afford to pay out on a custom built e-commerce system.

I understand most of the system, except for one area which is most important, this is the general edditing of the pages, Including changing the text area that says "Your Sales Message Goes Here", Please could any one assist me in this matter.

Also could anyone please tell me how to change some of the site content text, Espcially the area which says "Congratulation you have installed your version of ZenCart"..

Would appreciate any help that any one could offer...

The site is: http://www.clothingstockhouse.com

Thank You :lamo:

Re: "Your Sales Message Goes Here" Help?

Kobra please answer

I have this problem also and I would dearly love to solve changning this message.

Why does this have to be difficult.

I have my FTP server open at the file but how do I open it to change the text?

I am using Filezilla if you are familiar with it which I am not.

This is the most frustrating thing I have ever done.

Re: "Your Sales Message Goes Here" Help?

  1. Unzip Zen Cart on your local drive. That way you'll be able to see the file structure and access the files.

  2. Duplicate files to create your own custom template (see list below).

  3. Use a good text editor like Notepad or Crimson Editor (free download) to edit the files. Other editors may add "white space" to the end of php files which makes php very unhappy and it won't work.

Other than that, follow the instructions Kobra recommended in his earlier post.

To create a very basic custom template (you can build from there), you need:

  • includes/languages/YOUR_TEMPLATE/english.php
  • includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/index.php
  • includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/header.php (to change the logo)
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/template_info.php
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_header.php
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_footer.php
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/images/logo.gif
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/stylesheet.css

Anywhere you see a /classic/ folder, you can create a folder for your custom template. You can copy the necessary files from either the /classic/ folder, the /template_default/ folder or the parent folder.

Edit includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/template_info.php to give your template identifying information so you'll recognize it in the admin under tools->template selection.

You can replace YOUR_TEMPLATE with whatever name you want to give the template.
