Posting today's date

Can someone tell me what the code would be to post the current date? I want to add a box that says "Website Last Updated:" and then have it automatically show today's date. Thanks in advance for any help!
P.S. I've read the treads about different dates in different countries but I'm not worried about that conversion. I simply want to pull today's date and if it shows differently in other countries so be it. (I'm in the US)

I want to post that date on my sites main "index" page which is not in the same folder as my Zen Store is it. I know I'll need to make a reference to the correct code from the shop and then input something like = 'now(), '; My problem is I don't know where the code to direct my page to pull the date code out of the shop. I do not want to show the time, simply the date.
