usps.com Click-n-ship AutoFill Button Contrib

ses707:

Autocomplete is for your browser to tell it to not ask if you want to store the username, password, address, etc. It has absolutely nothing to do with why the addon stopped working. The addon POST'ed incomplete data to the USPS site and they accepted it and prompted for problems found. The new site does not accept the POST data and uses ajax for form verification.

ClickNShip Business does require eVC, a permit, or an external print device with metered postage. You can print full USPS labels without postage but then you lose the discount and have to pay at the window.

That is exactly the way I read about AutoComplete. So how does the address book provide the information to the form?
That is good to hear about not needing a postage meter. So how do you pay for the postage? What services does it not have that regular Click-n-Ship provide?

Just wondering if there is anything new in resolving the issue with this addon?
Thanks

Re: usps.com Click-n-ship AutoFill Button Contrib

Doesn't look like it going to get fixed! There needs to be a class action lawsuit against Oracle Sun Java for this big mess. Java junk updates have messed other ways of printing shipping labels too. Today I couldn't even type the addresses in Click-n-Ship

Java and javaSCRIPT are not one and the same... This module does NOT use any Oracle Sun JAVA code..

Like all other modules.. this will get resolved when someone submits an updated module.. Until then any business who needs this fixed can consider investing in the services of a developer to provide them with an updated version of this module..

Re: usps.com Click-n-ship AutoFill Button Contrib

Can you recommend a developer that can fix this? I would like to contact someone to see how much it would cost. The staff was so used to using it that there have been several shipping mistakes since it has been down. Thanks for your help!

Well folks, doesn't look like this one is getting fixed. Has anyone contacted Lat9 or another developer to see what this will cost to get rewritten? I would be willing to contribute funds towards this. Perhaps we can make this a group effort?

Re: usps.com Click-n-ship AutoFill Button Contrib

FWIW, I spent a couple of hours looking at this a couple of months ago and determined that the USPS had so complicated the data entry form that it was no longer possible to "push" content to that form externally (which is what the Click-n-Ship Autofill plugin essentially did). That's one person's opinion ...

If you are willing to pay for custom code, be willing to go at it alone.. IJS..

and for me this kinda kills any interest I would have in this module.. I TRUST your insight..

Re: usps.com Click-n-ship AutoFill Button Contrib

Well... that sucks.

I use Click-N-Ship because it is free. Are there any other solutions out there that will allow for easy batch processing of shipping labels... for free? I'm aware of Paypal shipping, but it doesn't allow you to print regional flat rate postage.

I process around 20 orders daily and have had to spend a good amount of extra time filling out label information since this module stopped working.

What has everyone else resorted to since this module stopped working? As of right now, I am filling in everything manually on the newly (and poorly) designed Click-n-Ship site which can take me around 30 minutes per day when it only took me 5 minutes before.

I am willing to pay for a third-party shipping service like Stamps.com... but I just hate doing that when I know I can print the labels for free. If anyone out there is using third-party shipping services, what service are you using and do you recommend it? Is batch processing of labels easily handled with Zencart or Paypal?

I began using Stamps.com, which worked pretty well when it worked. They had support & software issues which may be better now. I did receive a notice a few weeks ago that a major bug reported in Nov 2012 was finally corrected.

I switched to ShipStation.com and things have been problem free for the past couple of years. More options. Filtering and rules are customizable. Includes Endicia and Express1 USPS accounts which can be used interchangeably. Express1 has better rates for Priority Mail than Endicia but Endicia has better rates for other services. Both have the full USPS product selection available for use.

ShipStation also incorporates your UPS and/or Fedex accounts.

It automatically imports orders and has the option to "Update" when you click the button. Stamps.com updated but there was no user control over an 'on-demand' order update.

If you are shipping 20 packages a day, the labor savings will more than offset the fee for the basic account. Like any new software package, there is a learning curve but I didn't find it too steep. You can reprint labels more than once if you have a glitch. Stamps.com only allows 1 retry. PlainPaper 8.5x11, self-adhesive 8.5x11 or most 4x6 label printers.

Seems the only FREE option is USPS Click-N-Ship site..

If time is valued to you, just pay for a service as it would give you a return far greater than the price you pay. Most have free trials which you will want to test the interface and features. Pick one that fits your needs the best and go with it.

Re: usps.com Click-n-ship AutoFill Button Contrib

Installed on 1.5.3. Merged orders.php. Button shows up in orders. CLicking it brings up USPS CNS web for entering shipping info. But nothing is filled in. Tried Chrome, IE, and Firefox.
Ideas?

Re: usps.com Click-n-ship AutoFill Button Contrib

I have been in contact with the US Postal Service team that manages the Click-N-Ship process for the past several weeks on resolving the autocomplete form/field property issue that busted this plugin and many other similar eCommerce system processes. The case I originally submitted was escalated about three weeks ago, and since then I have discussed the issue with a USPS eCommerce manager. Like many others I am hoping that the autocomplete properties on the Click-N-Ship form fields can be switched to on, or another simple resolution implemented that would allow a simple method of auto-populating the Click-N-Ship recipient name and address fields. I am not betting the house on it, but I have requested a resolution to the auto-fill Click-N-Ship recipient field issue several times in the past, and this time the USPS seems aware and interested in genuinely resolving the Click-N-Ship form auto-fill issue. If I get any word back on the case I will definitely post back. Thanks, Brian

I wouldn't hold my breath.. My GUESS is this was done to accommodate their PAYING partners (Shipstation, E-Stamps)

I believe you hit it on the head. I am sure they are many out there like me that does not have the volume to offset the cost the paying partners charge. I wish someone would incorporate this into USPS mod. I don't know enough about programing to attempt this or where I live in West Texas programers are not plentiful.
