Paypal shows shipping address ??

I am testing the downloading of a virtual product.

I've set up Paypal and gone through the purchase process.

Paypal shows the shipping address of the customer, yet with my virtual product there is no need for a shipping address.

How can I modify Zen Cart or Paypal so as not to show the customers' shipping address?

Thank u

Re: Paypal shows shipping address ??

Is this the PayPal receipt? Paypal does not have a facility that I am aware of to know the nature of the product purchased.

Re: Paypal shows shipping address ??

When I'm on the paypal BillingIinformation page, it shows a choice of radio buttons:

. Is this your shipping address?

Customer Smith
111 Road Way
United States

AND

. I would like to use a different address

So, since I'm not shipping anything, but downloading a virtual product, my customers may get confused/misled.

Any suggestions?

Re: Paypal shows shipping address ??

As this is under the control of PayPal we can not change these items. I would only offer that if you can provide some guidance on your site before they move to the paypal site that you do this.

Edit: Or is this a Zen Cart page before doing to the PayPal site?

Re: Paypal shows shipping address ??

I think you would have to modify the paypal module and include/change the tag(or whatever it is called) for soliciting shipping address.
no_shipping=1

Re: Paypal shows shipping address ??

Paypal states this:
When creating your PayPal payment buttons, you can choose one of the following shipping address options:
• Make shipping optional <input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="0">
• No shipping needed <input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="1">
• Yes, require shipping <input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="2">
To edit your PayPal payment button, retrieve the HTML that you cut and pasted onto your website. In the HTML code, find the variable <input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="2">. Replace it with one of the following:
• <input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="0">
• <input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="1">

So, I looked in includes/modules/payment/paypal.php
and I don't see anything like: <input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="1">

But I do see this:
$db->Execute("insert into " . TABLE_CONFIGURATION . " (configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, set_function, date_added) values ('Shipping Address Options', 'MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_ADDRESS_REQUIRED', '1', 'The buyers shipping address. If set to 0 your customer will be prompted to include a shipping address. If set to 1 your customer will not be asked for a shipping address. If set to 2 your customer will be required to provide a shipping address.<br />0=Prompt<br />1=Not Asked<br />2=Required<br /><br /><strong

I also see this:

                 zen_draw_hidden_field('no_shipping', MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_ADDRESS_REQUIRED) .

But I'm just not clear on what I should do.

I'm not clear on what Paypal means when they say "retrieve the HTML that you cut and pasted onto your website."

Any help would be appreciated. Thank u

Re: Paypal shows shipping address ??

It appears this should be configurable on the Admin section, but I really don't see where to change it, at least in the version I'm using (1.3.0.2). I'm not sure if you can configure that in the Admin section of 1.3.5.

I think you can just use phpAdmin and navigate to the configuration table and change the value there.

But I'm also a bit confused, I just checked my configuration table and I have a value of '1', which would mean no address is required; however, I do require address for all orders and it works just fine as it is.

Maybe you could try changing the value to '0'
Hopefully someone who knows more will help clarify this.

Re: Paypal shows shipping address ??

You stated:

"my configuration table and I have a value of '1'"

Where are you talking about? Where is the configuration table?

Thank u

Re: Paypal shows shipping address ??

The 'configuration table' is in the database ZenCart uses.
You need to use something like phpMyAdmin to access it. Then you browse the configuration table called something like 'zen_configuration' or just 'configuration'.
Then look for the row where you change this option and edit the value.

I think a simpler method to change this value would be to use a simple SQL command to change the value. Unfortunately, my knowledge is limited only to basic html and I wouldn't know how to do that. Hopefully someone else with real knowledge will be able to help you more than I can.

Re: Paypal shows shipping address ??

On your PayPal profile settings (paypal's website), in your payment preferences area, you should have an option about requiring a customer's shipping address or not. Change it to allow them to supply no address.

Re: Paypal shows shipping address ??

If you absolutely must make this change, I wish you success.

In the /includes/modules/payment/paypal.php file, there are 2 lines which are commented. If you wish to specifically disable the option for the customer to acknowledge a shipping address, you can uncomment these 2 lines by removing the // from the beginning:

approx line 181: ```
// zen_draw_hidden_field('no_shipping', MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_ADDRESS_REQUIRED) .

approx line 357:```
   //         'MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_ADDRESS_REQUIRED' ,

Re: Paypal shows shipping address ??

Thanks so much for your reply.

I have un-commented line 181:
zen_draw_hidden_field('no_shipping', MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_ADDRESS_REQUIRED) .

and un-commented line 357:
'MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_ADDRESS_REQUIRED' ,

Yet, when I process an order, and reach the payal page that askd for CC info, below that it still asks:

Is this your shipping address?
(radio button)
John Doe
P.O. Box 11
Somewhere, CA 95736
United States

(radio button) I would like to use a different address

This (Is this your shipping address) is the part I want to have removed.

When I ask Paypal HELP Q & A they state the following, but I don't know how to accomplish this because I don't believe I've "created a button":

Seller Tools - Website Payments

Q: How do I edit my shipping address options?

A: When creating your PayPal payment buttons, you can choose one of the following shipping address options:
Make shipping optional <input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="0">
No shipping needed <input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="1">
Yes, require shipping <input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="2">
To edit your PayPal payment button, retrieve the HTML that you cut and pasted onto your website. In the HTML code, find the variable <input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="2">. Replace it with one of the following:
<input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="0">
<input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="1">

Any help will br greatly appreciated.

Re: Paypal shows shipping address ??

No shipping needed <input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="1">and

zen_draw_hidden_field('no_shipping', MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_ADDRESS_REQUIRED) .
```are the same.
Granted, the setting for MODULE_PAYMENT_PAYPAL_ADDRESS_REQUIRED is driven by the choice made in the PayPal settings in your Zen Cart admin.
