Order total incorrect with discount pricing group + tax

Hello.

I've just updated from 1.3.0.2 --> 1.3.5

I'm having a problem with order total when customer is a member of a 100% discount pricing group and pays state tax.

Member of discount group: yes, pays tax: no

order total is correct.

Member of discount group: no, pays tax: yes

order total is correct

Member of discount group: yes, pays tax: yes

order total is wrong.

I'd love to hear some ideas how to fix this.

If you use re-calculate tax = none, the tax will be correct based on the original subtotal.

... or include shipping = false in your order total config for group discount. This should leave him only paying the shipping, which you might be able to get rid of via a coupon.

I poked around with the various re-calculate tax = none settings on group pricing and tax exempt, and finally came up with something that works correctly!

The 100% discount is so our sale reps can order samples from our store! :laugh:

Glad it's working. I've said before on other threads that I think the easiest, most readily explainable discounting model should use re-calculate tax = none and include tax = false; this is certainly the way most retail bricks and mortar outlets work. Of course, this can cause problems for people who have to use VAT, etc. so YMMV.
