Turn off Filter Results dropdown box?

How do I turn off the Filter Results dropdown box ?

I must have selected it somewhere, but I can't find where.

I know the first time I saw that filter active was in v1.3.5. It appears to be automatically switched on and I got quite confused at first. I'm like... "oh no, what did I do in the settings now???" :laugh:

It is on by default on the New Installs and Off by default on an Upgrade ...

Some sites with very large categories will find it handy ... others, they really do not need it ...

But it does work in conjunction with the manufactures dropdown if showing or the categories dropdown if showing ...

Just a new toy to help manage those large Categories some of these sites put together ...

is it possible to edit this function so that the customer can choose to sort by price, name, ect

The listings have either dropdowns for the sort order or they have titles that you click on to sort ...

the drop down works, but it only sorts alphabetically. Id like to have it sort by price... I dont see an option for this

Clicking the word Price, in the product listing header, will sort by price.

Even though you can click on Price, I'd still like to have it in the drop down. Is that possible?

I would love to be able to use "filter by results" for artists or instruments. The Developer's Tool Box doesn't address what steps to take, tables to make, etc.

The sidebox modules seem to work globally, not by results.

Is it possible to add an additional "filter by results" option without changing product type (i.e., so one can still use Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 to upload products)? I assume one would add a table to the MySQL database, try to have the search term show on listings, and highlight the search term to filter by results.

Has anyone detailed how to do this?

After a day of searching, I find that the Advanced Search allows one to specify that a search is within a category, which is the type of filter I most need.

I believe the Developer's Toolbox gives a link to the English file where "advanced search" may be embellished to specify/encourage/make it obvious that searches may be done within the category one is in.

I would also like to spell out to site visitors that highlighting the column headers allows a sort by price and (not so useful for me) item name, so hopefully I can ascertain a good location to place such a comment.

All the discussion of the various applications of search boxes and filters has been helpful. Maybe later I will employ one or two additional search boxes. For now, just using "advanced search: seems is an efficient answer to the intra-category filter/search method.

This would be VERY useful if we could customize our own drop-down list. Right now I olny have the alpha one... How do you add a new one or create a new one that has options of filtering by price or size or colour?
