Can I build more than 1 website?

I am new to this software and want to know if I download zen-cart will i be able to build multiple websites from my machine? Also, I am in australia and does it support multiple currencies and is it compatable with paypal australia?

Yes, it supports multiple currencies and languages as well. Not sure about PP Australia but you can check if the current PP module will fit your needs or look for it on the Payment Contributions thread.

then connect it to a common "products" dB table...

but connect it to a "unique" customer dB table?

You can incorporate paypal very easily. Just follow all the instructions as is, then when it says to add your addressed change the .com/cgi to .com.au/cgi I did this and no problems at all as far as I can tell.
