[Done v1.3.6] v 1.3.5 - Create Account - Duplicate State Field

Apologies if this has already been reported - couldn't find anything.

Zen 1.3.5, demo store with data.

Create a new account.

Set the country to 'United States' and enter something like 'sdfsdfd' in the state field.

Use dummy (but valid) data for all other fields.

Click 'submit'

You get the standard 'Please select a state from the states pull-down menu' error, but you also get an extra field showing - so you now have the the states pull-down menu where it should be, but also the original states entry field (with 'sdfsdfd' still displayed in it) displayed below and to the left of the states pull-down menu.

Separate issue - and a small point/maybe this is intentional:

The 'street address' field is longer than the other name/address fields on the create account page even though its display length is set to 40 - same as the other name/address fields next to it. It seems to be happening because the field length in the address_book table is set to 64 compared to 32 for the others. As I said, maybe this is intentional - perhaps someone, somewhere has extra-long suburb addresses :smile:

I have just discovered this exact problem.

A customer of mine was typing in their state as MO instead of Missouri.

As a result they got a similar screen and were not able to proceed any further. I was then able to replicate the problem thanks to their sending me a screen shot and found if I typed the state name in full in the box next to the dropdown box it allowed me to proceed.

Is this a bug or a setting error?

My state settings are as follows..

State true
State - Always display as pulldown? false

Do a search for "State Dropdown" you will get more details concerning this issue...

yes this is a problem within zencart.

if you enable the dropdown, it will help your customers to create an account easy.

if the customer Uses there WHOLE state name, not just the state code, they shouldnt have any issues creating an account (this is what i have found from my testing). you can setup the input field to let them know to use the whole state name instead of the code (some states work find with the state code, others dont work at all) but it seems easyer for them to select a state from the dropdown.

iv not had any complants after enabling the state dropdown menu for customers to choose.

lets hope a fix comes soon

Resolved in 1.3.6, released yesterday.

Sorry to report - the bug is still with us (at least, with me. I'm using the latest 1.3.6, clean install). Please notice - the State field is not writeable, it's just sitting there (misaligned too). Or am I missing somethng?.

how do you have your customer details page setup...

set the dropdown menu to false- and then try it... that will give you the text field only and should work just fine.

Iv tested over and over and no issues found... your cart is actualy working fine... that text field isnt active untill the user changes the country to one without zones (i believe) then they can input there own province/state into that field manualy...
Both options are ok to use... the choice is yours.

If you cant get it to work proporly doing as i stated, please post your settings for customer details here. so that we can see how you have it...

also a link to your site to see the issue in action would be helpfull..

i also am getting a dummy field when using state drop down. just finished a fresh installation with 1.3.6 and added some additional contributions : grid layout, image handler, tabbled light, and advanced cross sell.

Make sure you have made the stylesheet changes that are posted and that you have upgraded the template for create account

ok. thanks. that fixed the problem. totally forgot to add the hidden and visible fields in my old stylesheet.
