product image color change

I offer different color choices for some of my products. I found a site that does exactly what I would like to do with my site. When you click on a color choice thumbnail it changes the main product image. This site even change the drop down to that color option. That part I could live without but I definitley need the image to change.

Does anybody have a clue about how I can achive this? Especially dynamically. As far as when I upload an attribute image and it's larger counterparts how it will automatically function on every item.

There was a module that enabled this using JS on hover, but as I recall it did not make the selection. Just the image change. You can look in the downloads section and see if it is there. If not follow my sig and email me and I can provide what I have, albeit for an older version and I have not checked the compatibility but it might be a good starting point.

Kobra provided me with the following css/js image switcher.

This looks like it would work great as long as I can figure out how to get it to call to the respective larger images.

Whatever was available in 2006 is not necessarily still relevant, but there is a new mod, AJAX Image Swapper, that does the same thing.
