Yes, I can assure you that 1.3.6 absolutely, positively corrects the state pull down problems...

Fresh install but w old database

i got pissed and replaced the whole section of includes\modules\pages w a new dl of 1.3.6

it worked. sheesh.

You may have just had a bad upload, corrupt or missing file and that replace fixed the issues it would have caused ...

I've read this thread and upgraded from 1.3.5 to 1.3.6, but still have a question:

If I don't use the pulldown, the issue still stand that some states can be entered manually (either full name "Massachusetts" or postal abbreviation "NH" -- but not uniformly "New Hampshire" doesn't work.), but if I use the pulldown to resolve this doesn't that require the user to have javascript enabled?

What if the user has js disabled? By enabling the pulldown they can't enter anything, but the bug still exists if I leave it as a field.

Is there any work around for this?

I tried to duplicate your problem but could not...

If I disable the state popup menu so that I have just a state text field, I can enter:

"NH" and it is subsequently converted to "New Hampshire"

I also tried "New Hampshire" and that works.

Then I tried "MA" which converted to "Massachusetts".

I then entered "Massachusetts" and it was accepted.

I then tried a few other random state abreviations...

I could find no situation where either the two letter state abreviation or the full state name could not be entered successfully.

Is it possible perphaps that your zone table is corrupted or missing some entries?

How do I fix this on V. 1.3.5? It took me 2 months to get this cart up, running and the store stocked...there is no way I'm going to dump it all and start over on version 1.3.6...do an upgrade you say...I don't know how and everytime I read abotu it, it says to install the newer version on your server in another folder and check it out first...that doesn't sound like an upgrade to me....plus that takes 2 days..LOL.....then it says something about moving database files..I don't know..I get overwhelmed...so I don't plan on upgrading, but I need this fixed...where's the fix posted?

The upgrade to v1.3.6 is relatively smooth ...

You really do not want to run a site with v1.3.5 ...

There are several threads on upgrading using a test directory and test database ...

Do a search on /new_shop ... it really is less painful than you think ... and much less painful than running a version with known issues ... :smile:

I don't know how to upgrade and see, there you go saying to install it in a test directory..I don't undersatand how to get it into the correct directory....I did a search using new_shop and didn't any info that tells me how to do this...

Now try a search on:
/new_shop

See if any of the 51 threads help ... :smile:

I am still confused - do I set both the State and State Dropdown to True?

I have them both set to Ture now and I have to enter the State and then it changes and asks me to choose a state!

If you have v1.3.6 installed, and have customized any of the template files related to account-creation and address-book, then you need to be sure that you've thoroughly merged all the 1.3.6 changes into all your customized files.

You're not going crazy, unless you're still using an imac ;-) . I posted here but then requested the post moved to a new thread (as it not concern state selection on the "registration page" but only on the "shipping estimator pop-up").
